Often when expressing our love it seems as though it isn't always received in love.

"Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed." Hebrews 12:11-13

I had a discussion with my roommate a week ago about gay marriage. I told him as a Christian I don't support homosexuality and by extension I don't support gay marriage. He accused me of being a homophobe which I think is ridiculous. I am not scared of gay people at all. I do not agree with their lifestyle but I am not afraid of them which is the literal definition of homophobe. So I'm wondering does it truly make me a homophobe not to support gay issues?

If we single-pointedly practice great compassion, then, with little effort, we will be able to gain all other virtues.

Lo! religion with Allah ( is ) The Surrender ( to His will and guidance ) . Those who ( formerly ) received the Scripture differed only after knowledge came unto them , through transgression among themselves . Whoso disbelieveth the revelations of Allah ( will find that ) Lo! Allah is swift at reckoning .

*****************************************************************
.73 . And believe not save in one who followeth your religion . Say ( O Muhammad ) : Lo! the guidance is Allah ' s guidance . that any one is given the like of that which was given unto you or that they may argue with you in the presence of their Lord . Say ( O Muhammad ) : Lo! the bounty is in Allah ' s hand . He bestoweth it on whom He will . Allah is All Embracing , All Knowing .

I know, I asked this yesterday afternoon...but, playing to a new audience this morning. :-)

The Southern Baptist denomination, (the largest protestant denomination in the world), formed because they supported slavery....they broke from the Northern Baptists, and thought slavery to be ordained by God. The institution of slavery is a Biblical principle. In 1995 the Southern Baptists at their convention finally apologized for their role in slavery...a little behind the times, dontcha think?

Anyway, if they, and other conservatives, were wrong about such a big issue as slavery...how do you not know that they are wrong about other issues of our day...such as homosexuality? Slavery and homosexuality are both addressed in the Bible?

How can anyone align themselves with such a denomination, knowing the terrible things they did.....in the name of God, and justifying it on the Bible? How can you give credence to anything they say or stand for?

I'm planning on telling my parents i'm moving out, i'm 18 years old, and yes i am legal to do what i want but i'm not that kind of daughter who wants to just bail out on home.
I'm planning on moving to a different state where me and my boyfriend are wanting to get married. Not knowing how my parents would take that, I'm just going to explain to them about how i'm leaving and then if they go for me moving out, my boyfriend and i will talk more about marriage. But my question would be any good reference to the Bible that would help with me asking them. I found a couple of verse that talk about marriage.
So if any one has advice on telling my parents please answer.

Thank You

Boehme writes," The written Word is only an instrument wherewith the Spirit leads. The Spirit must be alive in the literal form. Without this there can be no Divine teacher, but onl teachers of letters; only reciters of stories." Your comments?

Giving your money away?

Matthew 19:21-24

Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth. Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Being a Christian, but not blind I see a reversal between behaviour and declared roles. "Compassionate" "love thy brother and sinner" Christians viciously attacking Islam using fundamentalist dogma, while their so-called "aggressive", "fundamentalist" enemies respond with patience taking the time to guide other seekers of knowledge and understanding.
I guess many "Christians" could do with the "thou can see the splinter in thy neighbor's eye, but not the mote in your own.".

To the Muslims I hope you shall find it in your heart to forgive my christian brethren and sisters their offences against their fellow man and will not be detered from visiting this site for the exchange of views. Your views are welcomed at least by me and I hope by many other seekers who wish to serve the Creator.

i was just thinking.......when i was 7 i was christened in a church along with my baby cousin. does this mean i'm christian and not pagan? does this mean i wasn't raised atheist like i claim, but actually raised christian?

i was christened out of tradition, not religion. in fact, when my first child was born, my mother wanted me to christen him. i said no and told her religion is a personal choice so i won't choose for him.

so it seems like pascal's wager worked on my mother and her family, but does it count when they don't attend church or don't even believe in god?

so ya, i'm in the middle of an identity crisis. actually, i'm ok, i know i'm pagan, i just think the whole situation is kind of strange. what do you think?

Jehovah's Witnesses believed there is only one true God and that is Jehovah the Father. However, because of their belief that Jesus is a Mighty God that makes their belief more complicated because there will be two true Gods already. Jehovah's Witnesses always evade this question by saying "I believe Jesus is a Mighty God." Yes, Satan, human judges, belly, and angels are called "gods" but they are not true Gods. And besides, Paul himself said, "For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"), YET FOR US THERE IS BUT ONE GOD, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is BUT ONE LORD, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live." (1Co 8:5-6)

There are those people (unbelievers) who believes in their minds in so-called "gods" and "lords" but for the real Christians there is BUT ONE GOD. For the Jehovah's Witnesses there are MORE THAN TWO GODS. How come?
