Simple answer: Denial causes repression, repression causes memory inhibition, a critical component of an effective memory system.
Ergo, one cannot advance spiritually when living a lie.
(((Moonie))) love ya xxxxX
Hope you are feeling better.
Answer: get real, see the light, accept the facts and things you are trying to mask. You know what they are, it's hard to accept them but it sets you free, i.e. liberation, personal truth.

The word itself almost has a negative connotation. Denial is a very common way of avoiding accepting responsibility for obvious personal wrong doing. I think it is often used with it's sister, "Justification." Both words can be used in a very positive light, but more often I see the them used to describe a failure to be open to personal growth. A positive thing would be to "deny" your baser urges, and not "justify" yourself when you slip up. Admit it, and quit it if it is harmful to yourself or others.
Tee hee! Dr. Zapp has a kilt on. I read it last night, so it has to be true!

It depends on what is being denied. If it's reality, denying it will have far more serious effects than spiritual- although that too. If it's delusions, or inappropriate action, denying it is not only sensible but a responsibility. We owe that to our own humanity, and all "other". And observing reality without preconceptions will guide us to the difference. The spiritual is merely the awareness of the real - and nothing more.

Self denial of one's physical and mental faculties effectively can control the basic human urges and thoughts. This denial can help to evolve to higher state in spirituality.

LOL Moon. I'd be willing to bet that Google's spell check doesn't recognize Yahoo either. LOL It's called "Company Rivalry" and essentialy, it's harmless. Funny, but harmless. I have it on GOOD authority that Yahoo IS working on the spell check function this month or even sooner. LOL Especially with it bogging down while checking long posts.

Shouldn't this be in Religion, or is this just some kind of rant in the form of a question?

Sin is doing something that harms yourself or others. Denial is a sin. But so is overeating.

Well, when denied by others it teaches that we can't always get what we want when we want it. Self-denial can be a means for gaining self-control.

If you are denying the existence of God, or of Hell, then I would say the implications are eternal. and not in a good way.
