There was a very large Jewish community in Medina where Islam developed. Muslim traditions are much closer to Jewish traditions than those of Christianity. Judaism is a culture based on law -- Islam developed along similar lines. Unfortunately, Islam included something called jihad which is completely foreign to Judaism! In Judaism, LIFE trumps all other commandments!

Simple. If it is from the same author than it is not copying. Have you ever heard of new editions of a book. Muslims believe that the torah(old testament) and Injeel (New testament) are both word of God. It is just that these were corrupted over time.

The other reason a new book was needed because man was evolving. Think of it like a boy who goes to school. He cannot solve advance math problems. He has to learn the basics first like 2 + 2 = 4. He will later use these concepts to solve bigger problems as he has now learned. Same goes with man. He couldn’t handle all this when he wasn’t learned. I am paraphrasing what Jesus said in the bible. I have so much to tell you but you cannot understand. This is what he meant.

They didnt "copy". Muslims believe in almost everything in the Old Testament. They also believe Jesus was a prophet, but that Mohammed is the true prophet and completed the teachings..he basically just expanded on the monotheistic theories...the only glaring difference between Jews, Christians and Muslims is the belief that Christ was god, or the son of God..they still worship the same God..Allah, Yaweh, Jehovah..all the same...

Mohammed at one time referred to himself as a 'Jewish prophet' and was very positive about the Jewish people. Until, that is, he tried to pressure them into converting to Islam and they refused...!

You will find many ways in which Islam resembles Judaism. There are the dietary laws, of course. Orthodox Jewish women cover their heads, as do some Muslim women. Jews pray three times a day; Muslims five times.

There are others also.

suppose you are a teacher
chemistry teacher, you would be teaching chemistry, you did not the rules of Na Cl ,which is salt, you only can explain the rules, but not putting them, the other teacher in any other school would also be explaining these rules,it is not that this teacher is copying the other teacher.
then comes the role of students, some would take these rules and laws of the universe, and either treat it with respect or modify, either tell the truth or start to divert.
so god send messengers to teach us how to worship him ,god put the same law and rule to all pple, and each one of the prophets was teaching what god has given him of knowledge, then it is up to different pple what do they want to make out of these prophets and these laws

The worlds monotheisic religions share many similarities. Musa is an Islamic prophet and is believed to be Moses. In Islam, Jesus is a prophet and not the son of god as in christianity.

Moslems believe the prophet Muhammed (pbuh) is the true messenger of god

To a great extent.
They falsified many of the Bible stories and included them in their Quran. They also borrowed the concept of monotheism. From Xianity, they borrowed J*sus (a Jew, of course...)...
This is a good article on the creation of Islam by Muhammad, and his relationship with the Jews:
