I don't know about a soul mate, per se, but I'd rather have a wife I'm happy with than a job, because I'll be spending more time away from the job any way.

Besides, like Big Daddy Kane once said- "A job ain't nothing but work."

For me, its the perfect job. There is no reason for me to find a soul mate. I have a family already and I don't need any more kids. People change. Men leave you stranded. The perfect job will ensure your survival. Your "soul mate" will leave you crying on the floor.

Well, I don't believe in the concept of "a" soul-mate--I think being in love is just a fancy name for having sex with your best friend. There is no "one person" out there that you have to be looking for and might possibly miss if you are not diligent enough.

The person you choose to spend your life with will affect your happiness much more than your job will, and I would rather derive some of my self-esteem from loving and being loved than from what I can "produce", so I say relationship trumps work.

But, if I had a better job, I might feel differently. ; )

Its actually more important to find out why you feel you need these things to complete you. If you are searching for these things in order to "find happiness" sometime in the future or to somehow add to who you are, nothing you find will ever be enough. Now is where your happiness is or there is no happiness at all because now is all that ever exists. You are complete, whole and perfect right now.

it's more important to find my perfect job, because I must be a financially stable/satisfied person to be happy and I cannot waste my time or hold my breath trying to find someone to provide whatever emotional need I cannot fulfill or provide for myself. If I find my soulmate or one exists for me fine, but it I am not wasting my time searcing for a random somebody when I need to be improving and taking care of myself and the world I live in

I'd say they're equal. To be perfectly frank, both jobs and mates are replaceable. You find one that you like and you stick with it, but if you lose it, it's not like there will never be anything else to take its place.

Like high paying job or your calling?

Is it like the seat of C.E.O. at McDonalds, or (this is my dream) to become a professor at Rice University while using the money and labs to conduct my physics tests and whatnot?

Love's better than money, but true love will wait for you to get the "calling" job.
