My History teacher says there's a verse in the New Testamnet, I belive he said in Luke, where there is given the qualifications to be called a disciple or apostle, which includes:
"Known Jesus during his Ministry"
"Witnessed Crucifixion and Ressurection"
"Preached to Good News"
Does this passage exist? Where is it?

The god of this new religion sits above all gods humans believe in, now or in history past.

The proof of this is that this god has written this truth in the hearts, minds and souls of every person. All you need to do is to accept the truth of this statement, and you will know this god.

This god does not need to show itself, or prove to us that it exists. It created "everything", which is obvious proof that it exists.

This god does not need to explain where it came from. It is sufficient to say it was neither created, nor can it be destroyed. The manner by which it exists is outside the realm of human comprehension.

Any attempt to deny or disprove this god's existence will be understood as an attempt by the arch enemy of this god to control your mind.

If you obey this god, when you die your essence will return to this god (for it is actually a part of this god to begin with.) If you do not obey, this god will forsake you, and give part of itself (you) to its enemy.

Sound good?

E.g. if a dinosaur turned up, it would proove that they were not all wiped out by a meteroite 65 milion years ago

the cealocanth prooved that it did not die out 400 million years ago

Evos always say, if God shows up,
but Creos want to convince you before that time, as by that time their bibles say the books of judgement will be closed, and no appeals wil bne heard after that

so going back to science, what evdience does either side think will proove creo hands down?

i.e. dino skeletons are proof of dino's

what concrete proof would either side deem to be irrefutable?

thanks

Isn't it horribly unjust for a parent to crush their child's hopes of a career in life science by making sure they go to a school that won't teach them the truth about how life works?

Personally, I tried answering as nicely as I could... but I got blacked, so apparently that parent really doesn't want to hear what "disbelief" in evolution will do to her child's dreams of working with animals. Unless she volunteers at a shelter or something, she'll never get the necessary degree.

Could it be that the fight really isn't between atheists and christians but rather individuals with who have rationalized their beliefs and those who accept blindly (on both sides)?

Personally, I'm a Christian and according to my logic, I've arrived at my answer and many atheists have done the same, even though the answer is different.

I'm more prone to agree with a lot of the atheists on YA that display a rational, logical progression in their decision (instead of replying with the ever popular "God=magical Easter bunny" or pseudo-logical, strawman answers). I'm also more prone to disagree with Christians who answer questions with "because God told me/us so" and "God created everything so evolution can't exist"

What I'm saying here is shouldn't we be fighting irrationality and strawman fallacies (both sides are guilty) instead of belief schematics?

1) conquer all nations and force them to submit to Jesus or die? Those who die don't deserve Christianity anyways (other faiths, for example)

2) send missionaries out to all ends of the earth, armed with bibles, food, medicine and shelter...but nobody gets food, meds, or shelter unless they accept JC.

3) practice your own Christianity, be happy, and let others come to their own understanding about Jesus. You'll tell them if they ask, but you won't shove it down anyone's throat.

4) none of the above. To each his own. People can believe in whatever they want to believe.

I got Best Answer for saying Protestants don't have nuns but I have since discovered that there is the Luthern 'Evangelical Sisters of Mary' founded in 1947 in Germany after revival following the bombing of Darmstadt in 1944. Koneko94 asked the Q.

Apologies for my error. The Sisters of Mary continue to thrive and are now in other countries. They wear habits and have a 'Mother' and are so similar to Catholic nuns that some Protestants think they must be Catholic! Not so! I'm just reading the founder's book 'A Foretaste of Heaven' by M. Basilea Schlink, and the pictorial 'A Celebration of God's Unfailing Love'.

Has anyone else posted an answer only to discover some error in it? Any nasty repercussions from that? Any thoughts on a Protestant sisterhood? Anyone know personally what the Sisters of Mary are like and do?

In the New Testament God came to see His world with Himself in the flesh. The world did not welcome Him and instead crucified Him. Brothers, I'm not religious. Don't you think God visited us....and we shooed Him away during the Visitation? Failing that, He sent Mary as His messenger to the world that He loved so much?

Not for my brothers who don't agree. Please mum is the word.

As they are up there in Heaven and see all the technology that has been made here, all the new sexually appealing women's clothing with the sexy nylon spandex-like material, all those 8-cylinder street racers, all the things here that weren't here back in the 1700s, don't they look down and wish they had some of this stuff when they were alive? If they're curious enough, then can't they build it all up there in Heaven and live like we're living? Heaven is a better place so it that must mean that everything can happen there than happens here, right? And what about sexy foreplay? I trust they can at least do all that stuff to. I'd hate to think of what Heaven would be like if there's pleasurable stuff you can do here that you couldn't do there... The thought of that unsettling...

But, everything man made here God can make for man in Heaven, right? So, everything SHOULD be available there including sex and foreplay, right?

I'm struggling with the differences between men and women and was wondering if any of you GUYS could give me a new perspective and if any of you LADIES can tell me what's worked for you...

My father-in-law is struggling with the loss of a job and a nervous breakdown. Obviously this is hard on my husband - the oldest son. When he is dealing with something of this nature, he tends to withdraw...holding his emotions inside... and sometimes will even pick a fight with me as an outlet for his anger - He's not abusive in the least but when he's dealing with something of this magnitude, it seems like nothing I do is right. Understanding his need to withdraw, I spent this weekend alone in our house, trying to give him the peace and space he needed to work through this in his own way...which was interpreted as me being upset...but if I try to get him to talk, I'm smothering him. What can I do to let him know I'm here without smothering? I've told him, but I'm not sure he believes me
