Ok so I've got to get ready for this "rapture" thing.

Should I have a bag packed and kept under the stairs or should I carry it with me just in case?
Do I need to pack toiletries?
Will a tri-band cell-phone work?
What elecrical power adaptors will I need?
I take it that I will need a passport?
Travel sickness pills?
Can you take pets?

Does the US govt have an information pack on it? You can be darn sure that if it was a British invention we would have an information pack (in 5 languages!!!)

If I have covered all the bases for this will I be ready then?

Oh..... and what's the ETA?

Thanks

Has the MOST respect for women? Where you don't have to be ashamed of your gender and have to cover yourself head to toe and be guilty and ashamed because men can't control themselves, even if you didn't want it?

A religion where it teaches equality between two genders, everyone is just as good evil strong and weak as any one else. That has deep respect for women and no tolerance for slavery of women and children, manipulation and controlling and sexual abuse and victim blaming?

It's not Christianity. If it was not very many men of Christianity would victim blame or treat women like slaves and sex objects.

dont get me wrong, i love god. i believe in god and the bible whole heartidly. i just hate church. i dont believe that one has to go to church to have a relationship with god. it seems to me that churches lie to people. this thang about giving 10% of all your money is bs. why should i give 10% of my money to a church? that money is mine and mine only. god oesnt need the money so why do they preach that to us? also why do churches have members? isnt the "house of the lord" open to everyone? so then if it is why have members? my last question is, what do you believe about all this? i am in no way trying to offend anyone, i am just trying to get answers and see what other people think :).

I asked a question about rapture earlier - IDK how to paste the link in (sorry)

Thanks to those who answered...

But it's not really fair is it?

We weren't taught this as part of our RE (Religious Education) in the UK!

So does that mean that we will miss out on the party and have to go through the tribulisation stuff and everything - I don't fancy biting my tongue for 5 months (mind you, its only 5 months - I suppose!)

Anyway - If this is something that the Americans have made up so that they get to heaven first - then it's not fair! I'll have to make something up to give us Brits a leg up!

BTW Someone asked if I had "been to The Cross" recently... you are a little behind the times - It's been refurbished and is now a swanky Itallian restraunt....Shame, The Cross was a cracking pub!

Anyway back to my question - This "rapture" thing - is it fair on us Brits?

While browsing at Borders last night, a man visiting the US from India walked up to me and introduced himself as a 'Ghandhian". I had never heard that term used before. He was wearing homegrown, homespun, and hand-loomed cotton clothing, and he was very friendly and congenial. He was surprized when I drew attention to the fact that I already knew about his clothing, before he told me. He was an avid follower of Mahatma Ghandhi, and said so. His son's family lives in the US, and they were also friendly and cordial. Any comments?

Where the pastor thinks rape victims ask for it, have low self esteem and they're nothing but harlots.

That it's the women's fault that if the guy falls for temptation, even when the woman does not ask for it and wears extremely modest clothes(shirts that go up toward her chin and the bottom part go past her hips. Pants that go past her ankles for example) and just minding her business. According to this pastor it's still her fault.

Why should someone be forced to go to this church with that kind of pastor when she made it clear how much she hates that pastor and how much she hates going?

even before reading the article, what religion(s) would you guess the perpetrator is? ... and would you be surprised to read it was some crazed atheist that carried out the deadly deed?

What does that tell you?

Do I have to be a parishner to get married in a specific church? I'm a member at my home church, but it is too far away from the reception hall I have my eyes on. I was interested in other Cath. churches in the area, but I heard you have to be a member of a church for at least a year before you get married. Is that true? Or does it depend?

animals. Fortunately, there are rarely any entries there, but why dignify the cruel sport by giving it a category? (And I don't think there should be an exception in countries that permit the cruel sport - that would be like allowing racism, etc. in countries that allow it.)

I am converting to Judaism and friends are throwing out bible verses to me regarding Jesus. How should I handle this from a Jewish perspective? They constantly want me to prove he is not messiah. Christianity just confused me. What comforts does Judaism give to the soul? they ask. Mitzvot, right? Thank you!

Im not sure if I should go to mass today or not, and I know that missing mass for no reason is a sin.

Friday night I worked at a haunted house as one of the people that follow you around. I would hide behind this coffin and jump out at people, follow them through a 'maze' then return to my spot. Saturday, all day, I worked at a harvest farm's boo barn. Making sure kids were ok. On the way home we wittnessed a car accident as the car two cars infront of my got smashed. We swerved out of the way thank God. My muscles hurt so badly from this weekend. I cant walk up or down stairs/hills without a ton of pain. Mass is at the chapel, which is on top of a giant hill with a ton of stairs. I know I can walk the stairs, but its going to hurt like hell to do so.

And I cant kneel, it also hurts to stand up from sitting/sit from standing up. So Im not sure if I should skip mass today or not, from the religious point of view.

him, right? So if you are mugged twice by one race, how do you avoid having a reaction when you see someone of the same race? Not exactly racism, because the body (or mind) reacts automatically. I live close to many and play a sport with some, but that doesn't prevent me from a fear reaction when I find myself on an elevator with someone of that race. You might say that, unconsciously, my inner mind has stereotyped that race, but how do you cure that condition of your mind? You can't just talk your subconscious into changing, when you react automatically.
