Where the pastor thinks rape victims ask for it, have low self esteem and they're nothing but harlots.

That it's the women's fault that if the guy falls for temptation, even when the woman does not ask for it and wears extremely modest clothes(shirts that go up toward her chin and the bottom part go past her hips. Pants that go past her ankles for example) and just minding her business. According to this pastor it's still her fault.

Why should someone be forced to go to this church with that kind of pastor when she made it clear how much she hates that pastor and how much she hates going?

I'm not talking about women who wear revealing low cut tops! I'm talking about women who wear clothes that are baggy and cover every inch of their skin except their face and occasionally arms.

No one should be forced to go to any church. Spirituality is a very personal thing. Sounds to me like you need to stay away from this situation Friend.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with the first answer...
How old are you?

The truth is the vast majority of women dress in tight fitting, low cut tops and very short skirts, with the aim of attracting attention. The truth is many women deliberately dress to be sexually alluring. Women who dress like this know that in certain places they are risking rape. Men have far less control over their passion. They have erections which they can't control or stop. The vast majority of women who are raped are dressed in sexually alluring ways, and know the affect it has on men, who can quite easily loose control and be governed by their sex drives. However, women may dress because yes they want to have sex, they do not want to be physically assaulted. Rape is a violent and brutal act. But at the end of the day, most adult women know when they are taking a risk. You will learn as you grow, what's happening in the world. Your pastor isn't being completely unrealistic and there is a lot of truth to what he is saying. However, I am not a Christian, have no religion and was never forced to go to church, so to me that seems totally wrong, you should have a choice whether you want to go or not. I suppose your parents think it can't do you any harm and it might even do you some good.

No one can be forced to go to Church! If your parents are making you go and they know how you feel and you are ready to back up these accusations, then you should go to the Church, talk to an Elder alone and ask to be removed from the Church. The elders will talk amongst themselves and with the pastor regarding your beliefs and find a way that you will not have to listen to the pastor's sermon and maybe recommend that your parents relocate or have you dropped off at some other Church while they go to this one. If this doesn't work, talk to your councilor at school about the problem and he /she will intervene and possibly bring in the Counties Health and Human Services Dept., or even D.C.S.F.. You cannot be forced to attend a volunteer service in which the outcome might or will be detrimental to your well being. GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS!!

How old are you sweetie?
All churches are not the same. Not all pastors are as ignorant as the one you describe.
Maybe you could find a "suitable & acceptable" friend your parents would allow you to attend a different church with.
I LOVE church. It's not about condemnation, hell, fire & brimstone- Jesus is not like that.
If you could force yourself to read the Gospel (which merely means Good News) in the New Testament (after Jesus' birth) you would find a completely different perspective on what is being spouted from the pulpit you are dragged to.
The praise and worship music has changed so much- it's actually FUN- and being around all these people who are overflowing with love is not a bad way to spend even a couple of hours on a Sunday.
The Bible does instruct parents to raise up their children the way they should go and they will return to it as adults.
I'm sure their hearts are well intentioned and they're just doing what they were taught-
I would seriously check into other churches that teach on a relationship with Jesus and that should satisfy your parents.
Regardless pray (ask / talk simply) to Jesus and He WILL help you find Him and not religion.
God bless. Love you!

It doesn't matter what any pastor believes, no one should be forced to go to church. Having said that, if you are a child living at home, then you really have no choice but to respect your parents' decisions. You obviously have the cognitive skills to recognize poor teaching so you can't claim that your compelled attendance at church rises to the level of mistreatment.

Then it's time to find another Church if you are in disagreement. The bigger question is, who's forcing you to go. Are you an adult?

The bible tells us god placed women on the earth as an afterthought just to serve men. Your pastor is just following the bible. You should be forced to go.

I don't know what church this is, but run, don't walk, to the nearest exit and never return.
