Im not sure if I should go to mass today or not, and I know that missing mass for no reason is a sin.

Friday night I worked at a haunted house as one of the people that follow you around. I would hide behind this coffin and jump out at people, follow them through a 'maze' then return to my spot. Saturday, all day, I worked at a harvest farm's boo barn. Making sure kids were ok. On the way home we wittnessed a car accident as the car two cars infront of my got smashed. We swerved out of the way thank God. My muscles hurt so badly from this weekend. I cant walk up or down stairs/hills without a ton of pain. Mass is at the chapel, which is on top of a giant hill with a ton of stairs. I know I can walk the stairs, but its going to hurt like hell to do so.

And I cant kneel, it also hurts to stand up from sitting/sit from standing up. So Im not sure if I should skip mass today or not, from the religious point of view.

You said you CAN walk the stairs, so go to mass. Let the great pain you will feel be a sacrifice you offer in the mass with the sacrifice of Jesus.

you sound like you're looking for someone to confirm - you don't have to go - sorry i can't offer that validation. what i can offer is this.....
what are you planning to do otherwise today - just stay home and relax in the tub and maybe lounge about?! just make sure it's nothing that would be the same as walking to the chapel, kneeling during mass or offering worship with the Masses at mass.
you will be missing out on the Eucharist.

often people say they are too sick and yet can go t the movies, grocery shopping etc. i am NOT saying this is what you're doing - sounds like you had one heck of a weekend. just remember today is a day ot thanksgiving and worshipping our Lord - you have a lot to be thankful for it sounds like! just give Him the homage and thanks that is due - from the pew or the bathtub :)

I was writing a longer answer, but I decided to be short and to the point:

I think you know you should go to Church, as physically unpleasant as it might be, but you know it's not a good excuse to skip Mass.

Think of how much more God will appreciate your sacrifice in attending Mass in your current physical condition. . . Even though that will mean little if nothing at all to other people, God is taking notice.

Friend, I am not a Catholic person but an Apostolic Pentacost, The kingdom of God is within us, Not in a Church building, & neither do we have to bow down to anyone except GOD. No man on this earth can save you, Only God can through the blood his Son Jesus Christ shed for the sins of the whole world. Today I also will not be going to church, I have a very bad back, & I try to lift something heavy yesterday, I walk with a cane & I am 58 next month, So with the pain I have today, I could not sit for over 2 hours, But I can listern to it live on the internet, because we do have a live internet service at www.fachurch.org

You have a good and valid"illness excuse" for not going to Mass today.
Watch Mass on TV tele and make a spiritual act of Communion.
Pay attention to the Scripture readings and the homily and unite yourself spiritually to all in the Body of Christ who are worshipping today and pray for those who call themselves Catholic but cannot be bothered to go to Mass.

And you are....how old? I doubt that you are so infirm that you can not make the trek to church. And if you could crouch down behind a coffin and pop up to scare folks innumerable times, then you should be able to genuflect. I suspect carrying a Cross wasn't a piece of cake either, d'ya think? So go haul your worn out self to Mass.....you really need to be there.

Would you miss work today because of your infirmities? That is the only question you need to address. Address it honestly with prayer.

If you would miss work today, then don't go to mass.

Yours in Christ Jesus

Anyone who is sick is excused from attending mass. Just watch a TV mass and have a spiritual communion.

If you're questioning, you should go. Why not? You'll just feel guilty if you don't.
