with all due respect for your nonbelief, why an atheist would be even asking about something like that ?
what is the the real purpose of your question ?
ridicule the believers, or elicit a response from fellow atheists ? They were ridiculed, as were the atheists ridiculed so many times it stopped being funny after about the 1000th time. in the words of a very famous actor who was asked to do a death scene: "sorry, not going to do it, it's been done"

I am sure you will get many responses from atheists and believers alike, but to what purpose. You will not sway their mind and they will not change you.
Perhaps a meaningful discussion between the two groups is simply impossible due to differences which are beyond reconciliation.
