My Husband and I are Christians. We both love the Lord.
We have been married for 8 years and we have only been Christians for almost 3 years.
Throught the years my husband has been verbally abusive, he has said that I am stupid and some nasty things.
I have told him several times that everytime he does that I get closer to leaving him.
I have an anxiety disorder and it is under control. My son had surgery yesterday and I have been a bit on edge, so had he.
He came home and started in on me about the house not being clean and stuff. It just ended up in an argument. I also was on his computer (he used to have a porn issue) and I wanted to see if he was up to it again (he has been actung different..I told him that I looked..
Anyway, he started telling me that I am "unstable" "need to take more pills" acting crazy". I told him that I have had it with this abuse and to leave. He won't leave.. said he can't.
I would really like some Christian advice on this.

"Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe," (Heb. 12:28).

Our position with God is so secure in Christ, that it cannot be shaken. Our position was purchased for us by the son of God who died on the cross and shed his blood for us. In Him we have redemption, the forgiveness of our sins. Therefore, in gratitude for what we have received in Christ, we are to serve the Lord with reverence and awe.

Our reverence is towards God. Reverence is proper honor, appreciation, and devotion to God. To be in awe means to be reverent, but also speaks of godly fear. Though we are safe in the arms of Christ, we should be awestruck at the majesty and perfection of God's holy character. Remember, God deals with sin appropriately and we receive the benefit of His work in the person of Christ.

Any ideas on the future of religion? Will people eventually realize that religious thought of all kinds inspires horrors like 9/11, the crusades, witch hunts, mutilations, physical, psychological and sexual abuse, jihad, suicide bombings, genocide, discrimination etc. etc. etc... and mankind will reject religion en masse as a relic of the dark ages, or will religious zealots succeed in destroying civilization in a self-fulfilling armageddon prophecy?

...they think eternal Hell is a "just" punishment for not believing that a man rose from the dead 2,000 years ago? Christians, YOU don't believe the miracle stories from other religions, right? How is YOUR disbelief any different from the disbelief of those who happen not to believe in YOUR religion's stories? You expect US to lay away at night, worrying whether YOUR faith might be correct, but YOU never give a second thought about dismissing other people's religions as false! Are you SO sure of your OWN infailablity that you know YOU have chosen the RIGHT religion? Are you unable to make a mistake? What will you do if, on Judgement Day, somebody ELSE'S God calls you forward to render an account? Has it occured to you that maybe God doesn't want defamatory stories about Him/Her made up, like the ones in the Bible...?

They are both mortal sins but they have to have different severities, right? I mean it sounds stupid to think that cursing is just as bad as killing someone.

Ever since the day my grandfather died, several months ago, I would have these dreams where I walked to the cemetery where he was buried and his spirit would talk to me. Just last week, he came to me in my dream and told me that he was leaving to go to heaven, and I could not see him anymore.

I'm interested in hearing some Christian speculation on souls.

1. Is the soul linked to brain function? If yes, then why should we differentiate between the two? If no, then why can't people remember anything after a coma - shouldn't the soul remember something?
2. Identical twins come from a single fertilized egg that has split into two - does each twin have half a soul? If each has a complete soul, then how can you argue that the soul is present at conception? How about chimeric individuals who started as two fertilized eggs that merge into one and go on to be a completely normal individual (you could be one). Do they have two souls?
3. Animals show complex emotions and social behavior: depression, sadness, love, highly ordered social hierarchies - why do you think they don't have souls but an embryo that is spontaneously aborted after 1 week does have a soul? By the way, 50% of pregnancies end spontaneously making God the greatest abortionist in history

when you really, really like something. like, some people love Winter time, or mountains, or the ocean, or a certain animal or color...and on and on. Do you think God is flattered by our love for some of the things God "created?" Maybe it makes him feel closer to us? Like "you like that bird? I made that!"

2 Nephi 25: 26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.
27 Wherefore, we speak concerning the law that our children may know the deadness of the law; and they, by knowing the deadness of the law, may look forward unto that life which is in Christ, and know for what end the law was given. And after the law is fulfilled in Christ, that they need not harden their hearts against him when the law ought to be done away.
