The term "Christian" was first used to refer to disciples of Jesus Christ, that is, people who followed and lived like Jesus Christ. Therefore, the word "Christian" was originally just another word for "disciple of Christ", implying of course that Christians don't only believe Jesus is the Messiah, but that they follow his teachings (see John 8:31, James 2:19). Today, the word "Christian" is used in a much broader sense to be one who believes Jesus is the Messiah, or who follows the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. It may also describe one who lives according to the teachings of Jesus.[3]

What do you mean by "believes in Jesus Christ"? I could believe that there was a historical person, Jesus of Nazareth, who lived about 2000 years ago, and was called "Christ" by some, and that does not make me a Christian.
I think the definition of a Christian is somebody who believes and accepts the Nicene creed (of which there are several forms). With this definition, I reject as Christian: the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Church of the New Jerusalem, Jehovah's Witnesses, and other who do not accept the Nicene creed.

No, one who is a follower of Jesus Christ. Even Satan and the demons BELIEVE in Jesus Christ.
The translation should have probably been believes ON or FOR him, some earlier translations do have it has On and not IN.
The original greek is "eij" defined as into, unto, to, towards, for, among

Yes, I think it literally means 'one who follows Christ', but I'm not sure. I like your definition, but it's not only important to believe in Jesus but to also trust him for your salvation.

No. A christian is someone who believes that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, is fully God and fully man, lived without sin, died on the cross and rose from the dead. They should also be living a Christian live (according to the Bible) without acting like @ssholes.

I think that a Christian is not only someone who believes in Jesus, but someone who has accepted him as thier savior and models their life after his teachings. Just believing does not make someone a Christian: for example, small children who are taught about Jesus belive in him, but are not considered "Christians" until they have accepted him into their lives.

A true Christian is someone who tries to live Jesus teachings, love your brother, help the poor and so on, sadly a lot of Christians dont do this but a lot do and that is what it really is.
