[19.16] And mention Marium in the Book when she drew aside from her family to an eastern place;
[19.17] So she took a veil (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her Our spirit, and there appeared to her a well-made man.
[19.18] She said: Surely I fly for refuge from you to the Beneficent God, if you are one guarding (against evil).
[19.19] He said: I am only a messenger of your Lord: That I will give you a pure boy.
[19.20] She said: When shall I have a boy and no mortal has yet touched me, nor have I been unchaste?
[19.21] He said: Even so; your Lord says: It is easy to Me: and that We may make him a sign to men and a mercy from Us, and it is a matter which has been decreed.
[19.22] So she conceived him; then withdrew herself with him to a remote place.
[19.23] And the throes (of childbirth) compelled her to betake herself to the trunk of a palm tree. She said: Oh, would that I had died before this, and had been a thing quite forgotten!
[19.24] Then (the child) called out to her from beneath her: Grieve not, surely your Lord has made a stream to flow beneath you;
[19.25] And shake towards you the trunk of the palmtree, it will drop on you fresh ripe dates:
[19.26] So eat and drink and refresh the eye. Then if you see any mortal, say: Surely I have vowed a fast to the Beneficent God, so I shall not speak to any man today.
[19.27] And she came to her people with him, carrying him (with her). They said: O Marium! surely you have done a strange thing.
[19.28] O sister of Haroun! your father was not a bad man, nor, was your mother an unchaste woman.
[19.29] But she pointed to him. They said: How should we speak to one who was a child in the cradle?
[19.30] He said: Surely I am a servant of Allah; He has given me the Book and made me a prophet;
[19.31] And He has made me blessed wherever I may be, and He has enjoined on me prayer and poor-rate so long as I live;
[19.32] And dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me insolent, unblessed;
[19.33] And peace on me on the day I was born, and on the day I die, and on the day I am raised to life.
[19.34] Such is Isa, son of Marium; (this is) the saying of truth about which they dispute.
[19.35] It beseems not Allah that He should take to Himself a ! son, glory to be Him; when He has decreed a matter He only says to it "Be," and it is.
[19.36] And surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore serve Him; this is the right path.
[19.37] But parties from among them disagreed with each other, so woe to those who disbelieve, because of presence on a great
[19.38] How clearly shall they hear and how clearly shall they see on the day when they come to Us; but the unjust this day are in manifest error.
[19.39] And warn them of the day of intense regret, when the matter shall have been decided; and they are (now) in negligence and they do not believe.

I'd love to get your feedback on women as pastors and women in ministry (in general.)

Would you attend a church that had a female pastor...say like Joyce Meyer?

I'm including a link that goes into great detail about this very subject. It also has scripture to make the point.

Comments or feedback? Please be respectful and thanks!

Is that really one of the main "reasons" and "purposes" that people embrace religion and/or faith?To have a reason and purpose?I have always figured as much.But, when I call them on it they deny that it the "reason" and "purpose" and insist that it is about love and so on.But when they are asked or are asking a pointed question about Atheism, they make it a point to suggest that Atheists don't have a reason or purpose if Atheists are right about God being pretend and make-believe.So, obviously, reason and purpose weighs heavy on their minds.

So, why do religious people think they need religion and/or faith to have reason and purpose?

For all people of African and/or Asian descent, or are women this is for you. Keep in touch.

Evolution is the foundation of rasicm and sexism.

“No rational man, cognizant of the facts, believes that the average ***** is the equal, still less the superior, of the white man. . . . It is simply incredible [to think] that . . . he will be able to compete successfully with his bigger-brained and smaller-jawed rival, in a contest which is to be carried on by thoughts and not by bites. Thomas H. Huxley, Lay Sermons, Addresses and Reviews (New York: Appleton, 1871), 20. As quoted in Morris, The Long War Against God, 60; emphasis added.

OK, this is tongue-in-cheek but I've noticed that on other Y!A sections most people don't bother answering questions unless they are 'experts' in an area. That doesn't mean they have formal credentials but you're not likely to see anyone answer questions on rhododendra unless they've raised them themselves.

However, with regard to religion (and politics, among others) people tend to believe they're qualified to answer others' questions. I can perhaps understand this with regard to one's own beliefs (and past beliefs) as well as with those that one has studied at length; however, it seems that people here comment on things that they have no understanding of.

I'm sure I'm guilty of this, too, so I'm not criticizing others alone, but does anyone else feel this way?

Buddhist are just another form of superstition, supernatural nonsense. A true Atheist doesn't have anything to do with any supernatural fantasy. Buddha is just another God with supernatural powers like all the rest. Why dont you Buddhist go on back to your dragon fantasy, wrap yourself in your cocoon of ignorance and be happy.

I would like to know why in the muslim religion, they think "stoning" is ok??? Seriously, I want to know what the word "God" means to muslims, if he would approve of such tourturious acts??? Is their God not forgiving that he would put them to death over whatever sin they so-called committed?

We are definitely not alone in this universe, following several UFO and extaterrestrial cases.,...Anyone could be God, especially intelligent extraterrestrials who are far more technologically advanced than humans,....Evolution is a fact too. There is a possibility that extraterrestrials experimented long time ago to start a race which came out to be all animals and plants on planet earth,..that's it for now,....feel free to state what you believe(the bible does not give much proof though)

Thought experiment -- Imagine that Genesis begins with Adam and Even in the Garden, no mention of creation. (If you can't do this much, don't bother answering). Imagine evolution does not confliect with a literal reading of the Bible, would there suddenly be enough scientific evidence to support evolution?

Isaiah 45:15
Surely You are a God who hides Himself, O God of Israel, the Savior

There is a book in the Bible where we do not see the Word " God' mentioned even once yet we see Him as the God who hides Himself and working behind the scene to preserve and be the Savior of His people.

Which book is this.

According to some dumb bishop and the bible, it's almost like we women were created to keep you men occupied until you go to heaven...Even went as far as to compare us to animals, to say that we have no soul. Or question if we are even human.

It pisses me off because now they're trying to say that women cannot go to heaven, because we donot have souls...I have been a practicing christian all my life, and hearing this makes me question my salvation or even my faith in god. We have feelings. We feel pain just like men. So why would anyone concider such a thing? If this is what god intended, then he is a god I refuse to serve...What do you think?
