Evolution is the foundation of rasicm and sexism.

“No rational man, cognizant of the facts, believes that the average ***** is the equal, still less the superior, of the white man. . . . It is simply incredible [to think] that . . . he will be able to compete successfully with his bigger-brained and smaller-jawed rival, in a contest which is to be carried on by thoughts and not by bites. Thomas H. Huxley, Lay Sermons, Addresses and Reviews (New York: Appleton, 1871), 20. As quoted in Morris, The Long War Against God, 60; emphasis added.

. “The chief distinction in the intellectual powers of the two sexes is shewn by man’s attaining to a higher eminence, in whatever he takes up, than can woman-whether requiring deep thought, reason, or imagination, or merely the use of the senses and hands. . . We may also infer . . . [that] the average of mental power in man must be above that of woman.” Darwin, The Descent of Man, 566.

“The ******* stock is even more ancient than the Caucasian and the Mongolian, as may be proved by an examination not only of the brain, of the hair, of the bodily characters, such as the teeth, the genitalia, the sense organs, but of the instincts, the intelligence. The standard of intelligence of the average adult ***** is similar to that of the eleven-year-old youth of the species Homo sapiens.” H. F. Osborn, “The Evolution of Human Races,” Natural History (January/February 1926); reprinted in Natural History (April 1980): 129. As quoted in Morris, The Long War Against God, 62.

. “The more civilized so-called Caucasian races have beaten the Turkish hollow in the struggle for existence. Looking to the world at no very distant date, what an endless number of the lower races will have been eliminated by the higher civilized races throughout the world.” Letter from Charles Darwin to W. Many religions, Christian and pagans alike, believe in a fiery hell and eternal torture of sinners. This is undoubtedly a very popular belief. However, God's Word the Bible does NOT teach fiery hell for torment. It uses "fire" as symbol for eternal destruction of the wicked. That is, when they die that's their final end. Romans 6.23 says the penalty for sin is (eternal) death. While other sinners are forgiven of their sins meriting everlasting life (John 3.16), the unrepentant (wicked) sinners will not have the benefit of the Resurrection (Acts 24.15). Hell according to the Bible is the grave (Ecclesiastes 9.5-10) Romans 6:23 (Holman Christian Standard Bible) 23 For the wages of sin is DEATH Ecclesiastes 9:5,10 (Holman Christian Standard Bible) 5 For the living know that they will die, but THE DEAD DON'T KNOW ANYTHING... 10 Whatever your hands find to do, do with [all] your strength, because there is no work, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol ("HELL", Douay Version) where you are going. Revelation 20:14 (New Living Translation) 14 Then death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This lake of fire is the second death. Great Q...thanks

Kiddo, racism existed for a LONG time before Darwin. Remember the whole 400 year history of Slavery? Most of that took place before the penning of The Origin of Species.

Evolution was used (falsely) to JUSTIFY racism and sexism, not to found them.

So the fact that a scientifically proven event is abused by an ignorant cracker to bolster his pathetic point of view automatically negates the evidence in favor of the science?

Go back to school and take a class in logic.

There are many fallacies here. One is to assume, wrongly, that this person is completely justified in his statement. There were racist and sexist Christians, but we cannot state Christianity is the foundation of these vices. Evolution says nothing about superiority or inferiority. Even if it did, it wouldn't be proof or evidence of its truth or falsity.

No evolutionary scientist ever told people where to get and how to treat there slaves (Old Testament), or forced a tax on people who did not believe (Islamic Jizya, anyone). A racist can use anything to rationalize their position, that doesn't make the material used in this way inherently anything.

Typical thinking back in 1871. How, though, does this relate to evolution being the foundation of rascism and sexism? Nothing in evolution states that blacks or women are inferior.

How do you then explain why people used the Bible as reasoning for being anti-interracial marriages, and how it was used to support slavery?
By the way, that text was written back in 1871. I doubt evoultionists today still hold that belief.

So you quote a racist bigot and... Wasn't this non-question actually a ploy designed to draw out the evil racism supposedly inherent in evolution, or some such crap?

1871? Why are you quoting a book from 1871? I realize that religion is perceived to change that slowly, but other fields change much more rapid than that.

Right. Because there was absolutely no racism or sexism in the world before the theory of evolution was first formulated.
