For example, a man that cheated on his wife with someone he fell in love with and he is involved in many charities in the community or a person who steals to feed their family.

We are all sinful and fall short.
Whether you are a good person is really quite relative to who you are talking to, because you sinned against someone, right?

The question is whether a person of character would in fact find themselves in a situation where they could cheat on their wife. No man just "falls in love" with another woman. And if he is attracted to her, his character should keep him from being in a compromising position (so to speak) with her.

And just because he does something good over here, does not outweigh the damage he has done over there.

Yes , as long as they repent and try not to do it again.
However, if this man continues to cheat, that means he is not truly repentant, and therefore is not forgiven.

Now, Some people promote a very attractive idea: All true Christians, regardless of how they live, have an absolute assurance of salvation, once they accept Jesus into their hearts as "their personal Lord and Savior." The problem is that this belief is contrary to the Bible & constant Christian teaching. If you persist in sin, you sever your relationship with God.

The Bible says we have ALL sinned, that there is none righteous, that none seek to do good, and we all, each and every one of us, turn to his own way.

We are all guilty of breaking the 10 Commandments, we have lied, taken what's not rightfully ours to take, committed murder in our hearts (with anger, etc), lusted after other people's possessions, et cetera.

If I were to take an account of just a few of the 10 commandments, I would have to admit that I'm a lying, thieving, murderous blasphemer.

If we were all honest, we would all have to admit to these things.

But the problem here is that sin pays us back by killing us and sending us to hell.

But Jesus said "I come that they might have life, and that, more abundantly."

God wants to rescue us from both the power, as well as the consequences of sin. Jesus said "Whom the Son sets free shall be free indeed."

God loves us so much that He came to earth as Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and died in payment for OUR sins! In fact, the Bible goes so far as to state that "He who knew no sin became sin for us, that we might become righteous ..."

He wants us to acknowledge and renounce our sins, and believe that Jesus Christ really DID die in our place, then He can pardon us, forgive us, adopt us into His Forever Family, and take us to heaven after we die.

So, making this long answer short, no. IF someone sinned is a mistake, because we HAVE sinned, period. We are NOT good, as I pointed out earlier, because we have broken God's Laws.

But, recapping, there is forgiveness from God from the one who will repent and put their trust in Jesus.

It is never right to condone any sin even stealing to feed family. Yet when we doo sin the Bible says we have an advocate with the Father and He is quick to forgive our sins. Yet He does not forgive for us to perpetually sin against him.

Everyone sins to some degree. The thing that makes people "good" comes from God, whether they seem to know it or not. You are not judged by God for your good works, Heaven is freely attained through the Crucifixion of Christ. We just need to be accountable for our sins and ask forgiveness. There is not "staircase to heaven". There aren't enough "good" deeds you could do.

We all sin every day; a lie is equal to adultery, no big or little sins. Your good deeds do not banish your sins, only repenting to Christ can eradicate your sins. So, he may appear to be a good person for how he conducts himself in the light of day, but Christ knows the darkness of our hearts, and he is the ultimate judge.

I love my Daddy so very much.

He was a brilliant man (with IQ to prove), studied in Engineering, Law, Finance, and Health. He was also a caring, loving, supportive, near perfect love to his children.

However, he failed miserably when it came to intimate relationships with women. I say he is a good man. IDK what his "Ex" wives say. May he R.I.P.

Religiously, Jesus said that he came to heal the sick and not the well ... does a healthy person need a physician? No, the sick need the physician ... and sinners are sick with their temptations that take 'em away from God.

Everyone that is considered to be a good person is still a sinner. We all sin at one time or another.

Every one is a sinner. We all sin. God can forgive. He not only forgives the sin, he forgets it. King David stole holy bread from the temple, yet God LOVED him.

Everyone sins. That's the whole point of Christianity. We all need a savior to represent us before God.
