It was very political - leaders said it was religious to
get common folks involved - it was about greed!

In those days, the common folks could not read the
scriptures for themselves!

I'm going to have to lay the blame for the Crusades on people -- people who used organized religion to delude themselves about God's existence and His supposed wish for the Holy Lands to be Christian.

You are talking about me now aren't you? lol

God made man. He is responsible for their actions. You cannot take the good without the bad. That is the point I was trying to make. You cannot say, look at all the beauty of the world without acknowledging that all the disgusting horrific things are included as well. Either he is responsible for everything or nothing, at least from my point of view.

Edit: I will admit I was being dreadfully facetious in my last answer. lol

People invented religion. The crusades were over religion and religious places. Hence, people are to blame for the crusades.

Since it is impossible to determine whether or not God actually exists, I would incline toward finding people responsible for the Crusades.

The idea of religion and it's mind-control qualities is to blame for the Crusades.
Religion was invented by man, so man is to blame.
