Let's assume for a second that God and Satan exist.

What religion causes the most problems in the world?

Anyone who wants you to believe in him(without proof, by the way) and leads you to believe that everyone else who doesn't will face eternal punishment(good and bad) has to be evil right? Gandhi is going to burn forever simply because he was raised Hindu? Where's your sense of empathy?

Let's face it. Christians have amongst the highest crime rates.

How many Buddhists, Shintoists, and Hindus do you see killing and persecuting people?

Someone who wants you to be good not just for the sake of being good but out of fear has to be evil.

And please no "I know it in my heart" stuff.

I keep reading this nonsense about Catholics not being saved for x, y, and z reasons. But then these same people will turn around and say "But all you have to do is accept Jesus as your savior and repent and your saved!"
So if it's just that easy, and Catholics have done this by the way, what makes YOU saved and not them? Or are you falsifing the "its just that easy" part?

that only by embracing the principals of Discordia can they transcend their limiting, sky-god obsessed neurosis and truly see peace arrive on our planet? If you don't believe me, ask Jesus, because he told me this himself, right after he told me that Oral Roberts and Pat Robertson and pretty much all other Christians are total embarassments to him.

if some people think that your belief in god is a consequence of brainwashing. do you think you should still preach to them.
and what gives you the right to pray for anyone without their consent. to me it smacks of total arrogance. ie i'm better than you because i found god,so i will pray that you will be like me some day.

Hey, well I hate diabolical things.I go to chruch and well I do this little class with like 7 girls that go to chruch too and I want to teach them about diabolical things. I ask because a lot of little things that look so innocent are not. I'm going to tell you a story:

There was this little girl and she was obsseb with the powerpuff girls and she had a backpack decorated of them. One day a pastor came to the little girls house and he felt a bad prensence so he started praying as soon as he did that the powerpuff girls' eyes started moving and they were just drawings on the backpack. So then the little girl's mom burned the backpack but it wouldn't burn so they started praying and it burned. Then they were making the little girl pray and she couldn't say the word Jesus so she finally say it and the whole night she was vomiting. Powerpuff are diabolical!

Tell me everything that is diabolical that you know please! Don't believe it or think its silly dont answer!

I read those words from a Christian today, and wasn't aware of that belief. Doesn;t that mean that Catholics inclusing the Pope will be going to a place you call 'hell', according to the Christian faith?

(agnostic)

...or researcher?

Won't this sort of person who continually refines their thoughts based on logic and critical thinking is inevitably going to be endlessly disappointed by the sloppy thinking of others?

If the majority of population couldn't care less about logic and critically refined thinking, why do it at all except only to write a dissertation, book, do research or teach as a lecturer/professor?

The whole point of my questions follows from the idealization anyone can have about logic and critical thinking especially as a hallmark of an intelligent and admirable mind. My devil's advocate position is that these people will be isolated by society who wants to feel good, have a irrational laugh, conversation that turns crude, etc.

So if I ask a scientist about the cold hard facts of life, and why were alive, s/he might say: to procreate. i.e to have sex

now, the question is, what if you have two options.

either to believe life is completely and utterly meaningless, besides procreating, or

that life has a deeper meaning and that is to live a good and honest life, constantly making conscience effort to chose the good and abhor the wrong.

Which one would you chose?

And do you really think the second could ever exist without some spirituality and/or religion involved?

Jesus said those words in Matthew 27:46 and Mark 15:34. They are the translation of ‘Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachtani?’

Did Jesus not say the He is the Way? John 14:6 states: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” What is the way of Jesus? Isn’t it suffering? If we do not have suffering, do you think we will remember God? Do those healthy and wealthy have any need for God? Maybe, they may not even think of God anymore. But how about those who suffer, who are persecuted, who are starving, who are raped, who are mocked by their fellowmen, etc., who do you think is the one who can save them from their sufferings? Do these people not think about God? For they know that only a supernatural being, God, who they can rely upon to get them out of their suffering or who can give them deliverance.

The ignorant fundamnetalists are just driving me to something I can only describe as "Dawkins-ness."

I'm still stubbornly holding on to my beliefs that people have the right to religion, but I am scared that soon I'll end out like the twisted love child of Stalin and Bertrand Russell.

Is anyone else experiencing this?
