No, haven't seen the game, sound interesting but a bit disturbing. Yes the church wiped out major portions of cultures because they were heretics, for example the Gnostics, and many of the followers of John the Baptist.
Edit:
Sigh. Yes Catholics are saved christians, and it does not serve Christianity well to continue it's fine tradition of religious intolerance.
atheist.

People are still executed because of religious dogma. People execute their own children for offending the family 'faith'.
And they wonder why athiests or agnostics would want to enter the debate.
Staggering.

People were often executed for heresy, but at that time, it wasn't done by the church. The priests would torture people to obtain a confession, then hand them over to secular authorities to be executed.

Haven't played that game and yes, they were executed. Kinda makes you wonder where's all that tolerance go? I think that if it wasn't for the laws that protect atheists and any other "non-believers" some Christians would have already had hunts for us by now...and we'd all be executed...so thank you government for having those laws to protect me and my friends...thank you.

Yes they were. And worse.
No, I don't like those types of games. I play role playing games mostly with a bit of strategy and simulation games thrown in.

Oh yes.
And by "heretic" they meant "any brand of christianity that wasn't EXACTLY like their own". Even then, it wasn't a guarantee.
Yes the inquisition (which was not confined to spain) was a fun time in history. And the rivers of blood that flowed from it, can be attributed to christianity. Lovely little cult...

Yes, of course. Profane and wicked men who distorted the word of God were punished accordingly for their blasphemy. This was in an age when truth and faith were taken seriously, though. Not like today, when any distortion is tolerated.
CJ...You are quite misinformed, blatantly ignorant of reality.

actually people were burned for saying the 10 commandments and the Lord's Prayer in English in those centuries public enemy number one were Bible translators "If they would burn the BIble they would burn Christ" Tyndale
It was a time of heavy handed authority and the importance of personal concience and personal liberty were minimal
Leo Tolstoy, not of that time, commented once that he didnt see much of chistianitiaty in the so called 'church' I think he was somewhat jaded but not enitrely wrong.
today groups like Voice of the Martyrs tell us that persecuation is on the rise and the numbers of people dying for their faith in parts of the world are high
