The ignorant fundamnetalists are just driving me to something I can only describe as "Dawkins-ness."

I'm still stubbornly holding on to my beliefs that people have the right to religion, but I am scared that soon I'll end out like the twisted love child of Stalin and Bertrand Russell.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Repeated or long-term exposure to gullibility, irrationality, willful ignorance, self-deception, self-delusion, intellectual dishonesty, hypocrisy and drooling stupidity can do that to you. It is harmful.

But here's the thing... you are suffering simply because you are being EXPOSED to it. Imagine how it must be for the poor idiots who have constructed their world-view out of cloth woven from those dubious 'qualities'.

I think that you should quit whining, and exhibit a little concern and sympathy, instead.

I honestly concur with Jon M. i've got not got faith in militant something... yet i've got are available the time of many flavors of militants - non secular, vegan, and a militant lesbian. What i've got discovered from all it fairly is that i do in comparison to conversing with militants. It demands too lots emotional capability to have an elementary communique. i like to think of I provide no one reason to be militant in the direction of me, yet working decrease than the concept all of us is somebody else's asshole, somebody is particular to be. So, even nonetheless i don't understand you that nicely, Linz, i could be saddened in case you grew to become militant. i'm going to experience as though I lost a chum (to be trouble-free approximately it). have an excellent weekend, expensive :)

To some extent I share your feelings. I live in the Mid-West, and it would appear that anything other than Christianity is viewed as weird, anti-American or heretical.

My belief in reason and burden of proof will not allow me to believe the dogma or Christianity or any of the other hearsay religions.

Partly I think that most people are lazy for not dropping all of that mythology. Another part is that people are cynical regarding their associations with their churches. The minister gets paid for his services. The congregation gets a ready made network for advertising their businesses. It's like a mutual suck-up society. And to me it is just sickening.

I will remain a rogue. I am not going to change for any sake. Somehow the ignorance of that mythology must be exposed and placed with Thor and Zeus et al.

Some are very far out but I find that most are sincere in there beliefs. I am satisfied that as an Atheist, I am much more contented than being involved with all the make believe and supernatural stuff. So when I hear some of them carry on about something that is Imaginary, I can't help but to feel bad for them.

I doubt you will become a twisted love child of Stalin and Bertrand Russell unless two men can have a child and I don't know about it.

I agree 100%! The ranting and raving of people like Paulo, and CJ, and some of the others, make me furious! Their attitude is anything but christian, and yet, this is what they want us to give up our peace, and tranquility for! I don't think so!
So, when they get to me, with their outright stupidity, I shut down for a while, and let my daughter have a turn! She whines, worse than a christian, that I hog the computer! Go figure!

peace

I'm not experiencing it at all, but if i can give you a bit of advice, i'd remind you to be careful of becoming that which you hate. If you are frustrated with ignorant fundamentalist christians and so become an ignorant fundamentalist atheist, how is that helping anything?

I'm starting to wonder if our energy would be better spent pushing educational reform. Religion may not be that bad, but there are a ton of ignorant people that really should have been better educated.

I believe in God but not in religion. When I see the answers on Yahoo, I feel like you do.... I wonder if these people are for real (ie: they're really that stupid and prejudiced) or if they're just trying to be annoying. Religion is man-made. There is a distinction.
