Boyfriend and I were living together (he was raised as a JW, fell away, and we both declared to be non-religious when we got together.. Alot has changed in 2 years. We have been studying, and he's getting back into the faith, and I am learning, and am very intersted, and can see this for myself. We are very serious about this, and about getting married).Well, ever since we started going to studies, and meetings, we've felt guitly about "fornication", which we are guilty of. We PLAN on getting married, but for my wedding day, we'd both like to be married in the fall but need time to save up for the wedding that we both want. Is it "okay" to be engaged, and have a year, or 6-9 mo (as long as it's in a cooler month, not summer) engagment, getting married in early spring or late fall? Is that okay? OR is it better to just go on ahead and do it, and not have a wedding that I can remember, which is very important to me, and him. I hve been thru a some bad relationships and I am

If the sky were to open up and The Lord were to appear and say worship me your God Creator of the universe. Would you bow down on your knees and give praise to him?

I am curious to see how many people can name this book.
Chapter13
"And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon its horns ten diadems, and upon its heads blasphemous names"
My bible.

Time and time again I see references like, "Jesus created man" "Jesus is God", "Jesus is the supreme being".

As I am a reformed Christian and studied different denominations (long story), I am at a loss as to what flavor of Christianity preaches that Jesus BECAME God after his death, not that he is separate from God. Those churches I attended never taught that.

So, if you believe Jesus IS God, what denomination teaches that (versus the trinity?).

Thanks for your help to increase my knowledge of this world's religious beliefs.

*Please read the following before answering*

Hirsi Ali [a] apostate Muslim…fled the Netherlands…now lives in the US.

Hirsi Ali: ...There is no moderate Islam. There are Muslims who are passive…don't all follow the rules of Islam…there's really only one Islam…submission to the will of God.

[Hirsi Ali] say[s] that all Muslims schools should be closed down in the US...Western constitutions that allow freedom of religion are products of the Enlightenment, and were written at a time when no one could have conceived of the jihadi threat…passing constitutional restrictions on Muslims is going to happen because…Islamic extremism is not going to go away…[it] is going to get worse

[Hirsi Ali] concludes that the West's arrogance is its own worst enemy "because in the West there's this notion that we are invincible and that everyone will modernize anyway."…this mistaken notion that if we "indulge and appease and condone," everything will work out in the end.

Acts 17:24&25 states god does not dwell in man made temples (churches) , neither is he attended to by human hands.
Does this mean that there is no point to churches and the clergy ?

I have noticed that a little group of die hard fundies are lively today on here spreading their gospel of venom against anything Catholic, I have to wonder if moderate Protestants find them an embarresment at all or has the past 40yrs of the Ecumenical movement been simply a waste of time, not to mention the hard work of the council of world churches.

If I am full of doubt, will Jesus save me?
I can’t help not believing in the words of Jesus.
Too many people convinced me otherwise.
Is it my fault, I’m just a mortal man, nothing special about me.
What if I’m being possessed right now, it happened in Jesus time, why not now.

I know scholars don't believe it was Ramases. Even Bible scholars don't believe this. Then what is Rameses in Numbers 33:3. "The following are the stages by which the Israelites journeyed up by companies from the land of Egypt under the guidance of Moses and Aaron. By the LORD'S command Moses recorded the starting places of the various stages. The starting places of the successive stages were: They set out from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month. On the Passover morrow the Israelites went forth in triumph, in view of all Egypt,"

i asked a question on evolution being taught in schools
but not religion..

i go to a public school, and we cant speak on religion nor can the teacher.. but we do discuss evolution and i understand that evolution is a proven fact and the two can go hand in hand..

on my last question alot of people totally acted like
i was saying i was a stupdi christian that thinks
evoltuion is crap, which i did say.

but i didnt research it..

im saying that the subject that we do learn in science:
the one where we all developed from monkeys..
i dont get thet whole "story"

how can you be developed from monkeys..
when we all branched from adam and eve..

can someone explain this to me??
and still why we cant learn about religion in school
about all religions not just christianity!

On the radio this morning, I was listening to a report saying that many Christian groups are trying to stop Halloween celebrations in middle school classrooms, saying it's satanic and glorifies witchcraft...and I'm wondering why?

Halloween is not a satanic or evil celebration, but rather based on earlier Celtic celebrations of the harvest and the changing seasons. This holiday is not about glorifying witchcraft either....but witchcraft is an important part of American history and I think that children should be educated about the early witch hysteria.

Why spoil the fun for the masses? Why not keep your kids home that day, if you don't agree with allowing them to dress up and have a bit of fun?

What are Christian parents' take on all this?

what happens then? what was the point of it all? an experiment by god for gods amusement? is that it? all the war all the human caused misery torture famine and unspeakable horrors over all the long years,in the end was just a test to see if,with a minimum amount of evidence,we'd believe? can any religious person explain this to me in laymans terms? without the use of scripture or bible quotes? because theyre 2000 yrs old and i find it hard to derive any meaning or sense. ps this is a genuine question.

You say that we have a sinful nature since the Garden of Eden. Who DECIDED that we have a sinful nature since the Garden of Eden? Who made it happen? Who made that rule? You act as though God had no choice but to give all future people a sinful nature. He didn't have to.
