Well, generally they give sermon things to try and get a message across, not because the Bible said "Thou shalt tell them what sinners they be every week". I always thought it was for some spiritual message thing, learning about the Faith and all. Just cause you've graduated Sunday School and can quote some passages don't mean your done learning, you get that when you graduate life in a life time or so. Also theres something about forgiveness and sins, donating to the church to keep it and its works going, and possibly following the word of the Pope (if you swing that way) as the last words that guy said (Whatever you hold true here on earth I will hold true in Heavan). Interpretations always get everything screwed up, we need to elect dude with a big had to interpret for us.

no, I think it means that the benefits of a spiritual life are in the context of how you interact with the world, everyday. I think they are trying to say that you don't want to think of these things only when you are within the walls of a church.
I don't hold traditional religious beliefs, but I do recognize some of the good that comes from the more humanistic teachings of many religions. And they are best practiced, really can only be practiced, out in the world. So I see churches and clergy more like schools and teachers, and I hope that someday the organized religions of the world will drop the dogma and indoctrination and power and money struggles, and return to the very good things that they could be accomplishing.

That is exactly what it means. I have no idea whether or not God actually does exist, but all the world religions are in various ways dellusional, manipulative and exploitive.
"Why go to church?" I suppose a good reason would be that you like singing in a group and find it reassuring and pleasurable to smile at the same people each Sunday morning. Those are certainly not bad reasons to do something. But if you go to Church because you think otherwise God is going to be unhappy with you, then you are a sucker who bought a bill of goods from a con artist.

The Scripture also says, "Forsake ye NOT the ASSEMBLING OF YOURSELVES together as the manner of some men is....." There's definitely a point to churches and clergy! It's for your renewing, spiritual safety, gaining in knowledge, praise and worship and etc.... God "dwells in the PRAISES of His people..." Granted, we can and SHOULD praise Him at home and etc., but IF there's "no point" to the church and it's clergy, why does the fivefold ministry (pastors, preachers, apostles, teachers, and evangelists) even have a place in Scripture?

the Bible also states that you should not forsake the assembling of yourselves together. From each others getting together and worshiping God and praying for each other you gain strength and get solid in your belief. Believers should always get together to encourage one another and share the answers to the prayers that they have received.Even Jesus was found in the Temple praying and seeking God for wisdom and direction and training for the Gospel to spread to others and recieve the power He needed to perform the miracles. The clergy gives comfort and direction and teaches us how to live as we should in this evil world.People go to church to find God, not that He lives in the building but in the people that go there, His Spirit dwells with in the believers and the more that get together the more power is there to do the works of Our God.It builds your faith up to hear what God has done for others and the healings that have taken place in peoples lives and you can't get that at home like you can in church. You can wash your own car, but is it not easier to take it to the car wash and let others do it as you watch and see what is done? The Word of God is alive and it has to be spread by words and you hear the Word at church and it is explained .It also teaches you how to lead someone to the Lord and the scriptures that you need to show the person how to get saved, where as at home and never going to church you do not have the confidence to approach others in the biblical way to do that.To sum it all up, going to church is a commandment to gain strenth, faith, confidence to get solid in your experience with God, and learn the Word from the pastor.

The church is designed to train and equip people for the work of the ministry. It is also to give us a place to fellowship with like minded people, which will hopefully strengthen our faith.
Some churches are better at this than others. If you are a Christiian it is always better for you to find a good church to attend rather than going it alone.

While it is good and proper to go to your room and pray in seclusion it is also right to worship God with the other members of Christ`s body the church on Sunday`s.
Scripture records that the believers met in one place to pray and praise God in Christ.

the bible also tells us to spend time with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We need that time with one another of like mind to build us up to face the world for the week. Also it is important to feed our minds with His word coming from a pastor, as long as the chruch you are attending teaches from the word of God. The Holy Bible.

The point of church is to worship as a group and do his will as a group. You do not have to go and I have not for years.
