Hirsi Ali [a] apostate Muslim…fled the Netherlands…now lives in the US.
Hirsi Ali: ...There is no moderate Islam. There are Muslims who are passive…don't all follow the rules of Islam…there's really only one Islam…submission to the will of God.
[Hirsi Ali] say[s] that all Muslims schools should be closed down in the US...Western constitutions that allow freedom of religion are products of the Enlightenment, and were written at a time when no one could have conceived of the jihadi threat…passing constitutional restrictions on Muslims is going to happen because…Islamic extremism is not going to go away…[it] is going to get worse
[Hirsi Ali] concludes that the West's arrogance is its own worst enemy "because in the West there's this notion that we are invincible and that everyone will modernize anyway."…this mistaken notion that if we "indulge and appease and condone," everything will work out in the end.

Shut 'em down, send them back to their war zone. Malarky that there are moderate Islamists. To say they believe in some of the Koran, but not the parts that explicity call for slaughtering of infidels and anyone that does not bow to their false religion is a sham. Where are these sweet muslims that want peace and unity?? Why are they being so quiet and not standing together against such evil. And don't dare say they are in fear of their own lives. Good grief, you mean they serve a god that can't protect them. Well, that's a no-brainer! They do not deserve the same rights as Christians. This country was founded upon Cristianity, one nation under God. You can dispute / twist facts, but you will Never be able to change it. Western civilization is completely ignorant of God's Word and this evil religion. I pity their souls!

Silly idea, full of holes. His basis arguement "there is no moderate isalm..submission to the will of God"--is faulty.
Christians believe likewise in submission to the "will of God" so does that mean we should ban that too. Freedom of religion is one of our most basic tenets--when those constitutional guarantees are put under pressure by jihadists it is the time not to discard them but hold them tightly and protect them strongly. Giving in and banning something would only suceed in enraging the rest of the world--and make an enemy of moderate Islam which is the majority of Islam. Perhaps Mr Ali is himself a covert jihadist--that advice would do nothing but inflame the jihadist and make the moderate majority angry. If there are terroist cells within some of the schools, the FBI will root them out--those type of secrets are very hard to keep. Is usually the undoing of the radical christian organizations (violent anti-abortion groups)--somebody always talks.

The premise of the argument is flawed. "In the west there's this notion that we are invincible." As you know from my earlier posts, we do not believe that we are invincible. We believe that our ideas are invincible. In a battle of ideologies, we will win if we stick to ours. If we become a totalitarian state in order to defeat the enemy, then we have lost and have nothing for which to fight. Despite all of our problems, our country is founded on a premise of self governance; a compact formed to promote societal goals. They believe in a society which tells the people what is right and forces them to conform to those expectations. History shows that power of that magnitude given to the government is always abused.
We should encourage muslim schools in the US. The fact that these radicals do not want them here is a good sign.

It fully depends on how far the school goes in its view of violence towards "heretics". There are peaceful sects of Islam, and there are violent sects of Islam. Not that they should be any less evangelical - Christians are just as egregious in their recruitment.
I feel that here, in Americam society will mold Islam, not the other way around. Islam is peaceful here in America. The only true violent Muslims came from outside the country, not counting a few unhinged people. On the whole, Islam works here.

No. There is still a First Amendment, and parents still have the right to teach their children what they will. There is no legal justification for shutting down Muslim schools without shutting down Christian, Jewish and other religious schools. However, they must conform to the local laws just like everyone else. And in order to be state-certified (which is necessary if you want to go to college), there are inspections and regulations that must be satisfied.
I disagree that moderate Muslims do not exist. There are a number of moderate Muslim web sites, there are Muslims who worked on the movie "Obsession," condemning the extremists who support terrorism, and there is much in the press about those who live in the US and feel they cannot go back to their native countries for fear of their lives. In fact, we should be making arrangements to grant them green cards on the basis of asylum.

I think it would be a good idea for all to remember that their are good and bad in every religion. We cannot base our opinions of the whole islam community on the actions of the few extremists. What would closing the Muslim schools do against terrorism? nothing. Do you really think that the terrorists went to Muslim schools? where do you think they learned to fly the planes that crashed in various places? from American flight schools. Where do you think all the Iraqi's got their guns from? From America. We created the monster that is the Extremist Terrorists. We supplied them with the weopons and the education.

i went to the link you posted and here's the headline that greeted me: "Saudi Arabia complains that Muslims can't practice their faith freely in Europe"
Very ironic that saudi arabia who does not allow ANY other religion or non-religioin practice ANYTHING openly has the audacity to complain about religious freedom. Really? why do all women have to wear a burka when you enter the country? Why are there no churches in Saudi Arabia?
That's the craziest complaint i have ever heard

Too many questions bundled into one statement.
The apex suggestion is not practicable. If muslim-madrasahs(schools) are closed in US, the seminaries, the ashrams, the convents shall be closed elsewhere . Does the Asker want the hastening of Armageddon!

if you want to have a private Muslim school, that's fine.
it's when you start making special accommodations for any particular religion that the problems start. Appeasement never works.
