Have you ever read the Holy Koran? My last question was, atheist have you ever read the bible. Many people responded by saying, it is the reason why I became an atheist. I find this to be a rather interesting, as Im sure most people have not read the Koran. How many atheist have study hinduism or scientology? My point is that using the Bible to justify your disbelief in God is ridiculous.

A fairy tale books blatant contradictions is not the reason I do not believe in God.
The concept of such a being suffices!

"...A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet," (Joseph Smith, HC, vol. 6:408-409).

In Matthew it says:
5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

So sorry guys again - I'm really confused. With these words - didn't Jesus in fact support the laws in the old testament?

I've read many questions where enquirers have asked how Islam can be a peaceful religion when the quran is so violent and encourages so much revenge and punishment. But mostly all the answers from Muslims repeat the same thing.

"Islam IS a religion of peace and love. We are not all terrorists."

Well, the main question was, why is the quran filled with violence and visciousness? Why does it call for jihads and killings if Islam is a peaceful, tolerant religion?

Even the Christians have an excuse for the violence in their so-called holy book! They say, "That nasty stuff is in the old testament. We follow the new testament and ours is a peaceful, loving religion!"

Why have Muslims not been able to think up a suitable (though equally bogus) excuse like that?

My children and wife are asleep. We have already said the "I love you" and parted to our rooms.
I believe I would just do the same ole thing.
Go to sleep in Jesus listening to Alistair Begg, Chuck Swindol, or listening to the Bible I have downloaded on my media player.
Do you have this kind of peace?
You can.

I heard that the Pope is only infallible when he is ex cathedra. What does this mean? Also, what happens if the ruling of a pope appears to contradict a previous ruling by another or the same pope?

Dont you think it is possible with how much space is out there that there are more planets that are livable just like ours....Earth is seriously like 1/900000000220228136099992886486129846 of the galaxy.

Isnt it also possible that heaven is somewhere in the galaxy? You have to also remember that the Bible is written 2000 years ago. They wouldnt be able to explain things like we can of anything, their minds back then were so ignorant compared to ours right now.

There are 6.5 billion people on earth, 10 million in 30 years. Back in the 1700's there were 750 million people, think about how fast we are reproducing. Dont you think that the revelation part of the Bible is coming soon? Right now if you look around the devil is everywhere, he is literally everywhere. Everyone have bad urges and think about things that we can say are ok now because society taught us that. Nobody has faith anymore and just live like they want, and dont SERIOUSLY think about consequence.

I mean, it's like eleven o'clock at night here. Well he said he wanted to tell me about the "truth", but he had one hand in his pants pocket, and , well kept ....fidgeting. He had a Watchtower magazine, but, he seemed, more "excited" about the good news than should be reasonably expected. My husband came close by the door and the guy ran away down the street. Do you think it was a real Jehovah's Witness knocking so late?

OK to clarify. How can anything someone were to do in a near ephemeral lifespan, warrant an eternal torture? Even serial murders, rapist, child molesters, or any other abominable blight to humanity shouldn't deserve eternal torture, should they? They might deserve to be completely obliterated if they truly were purely evil, having absolutely not a shred of good in them, but what constitutes such a person? however before I ramble too much I'll let you answer the question.

Also a bonus question to Christians if we do deserve an eternal torture them why isn't Jesus taking our place in hell?

There is an entity that created the entire universe, all Billions and Billions plus galaxies of the universe, and this entity cares so much about a species of primates on an obscure planet orbiting an ordinary yellow sun in one of these galaxies, that he incarnates himself as one of them.
He dies after spreading wisdom that is at times contradictory with earlier more violent and pathological messages he gave to others centuries prior to his incarnation as a man.
And he winds up being killed by the local authorities despite being all powerful.
He does this in a manner that mirrors many of the local myths (Virgin birth, torture and resurrection, miracles performed, etc)
Not only that but believing in this will ensure that your synaptic patterns will survive the death of your brain.
The only evidence for any of this is a 2000+year old book from Judeah.
And no other proof can be given, because faith is required for this to work for you.
Now that I sound it out-I'm a believer(

Someone (or something) posted a question saying "Fellow atheists! has christianity been sufficiently marginalized yet in your view?" This was after, along with other atheists, posting a string of horrible answers on other people's questions. Does this enlighten you about atheism?

everyone believe in Santa Claus as a God? A few hundred burned at the stake every few months for over 500 years coupled with a good sermon before the match was lit was very convincing for the Jesus crowd. Should it not work for Santa?

It's easy for a person to say it's wrong to have an abortion, and it's EXTREMELY easy for a straight person to say that homosexuality is a sin, and gay people should not be allowed the right to marry.

Why not attack sins that EVERY person can fall victim to? Why not attack promiscuous behavior? Why not attack greed? Why don't Christians make a big deal about sins that affect the entire community?

Ever since I have come to this world, there is peace and prosperity. There have been hardly any wars. People are having fun and leading positive lives. It is all because of my greatness and glory.

So everyone, praise me, thank me and pray for me
