Does the message of Tolerance deny the reasonable right of self-preservation? Many feel that the right to self preservation supersedes the principle of tolerance. What do you think?

I have no intention of building a new "religion" group. My idea is to build a website that would grow into a center of guidance for doubting people, with ramifications going into many subjects like medical, philosophical, engineering, ecology and environment, political awareness, forums and blogs, and above all an ethical charter that would guarantee respect to all and to offer answers when they are available and reports on the limits of knowledge when they are not.
This may sound utopical and it would certainly start very small, but with the help of writers that could post articles and physicians that could counsel the faith depressed, some activist goals and the search for some sponsors, this might just launch.
Ok if this is BS just tell me, I´m just trying to unite in ideology, not to build a cult.
Common sense should not need rescuing, but it does. Especially now.

promoting their own cultures racism and prejudice ? Seems to me anyone who will not believe in their faiths is "evil" or an "infidel." Seems many of these words only say destroy, kill and "obey" or else. After so many centuries nobody wants to hear all these "holy" criticisms anymore. Anybody else think all these religions need to find the psychological flaws in all of what they push as being "of their God ?"

usage of the word?

(this question is directed, of course, to atheists that were once adherents to some form of the theistic religion)

I myself had only heard the word used in a negative context, and I generally lopped atheists into the same category as theistic satanists and the like (which were all oh so despicable :p ) without really knowing what the term meant.

Spring Fever

Four high school boys afflicted with spring fever skipped morning classes. After lunch they reported to the teacher that they had a flat tire.

Much to their relief she smiled and said, "Well, you missed a test today so take seats apart from one another and take out a piece of paper."

Still smiling, she waited for them to sit down. Then she said: "First Question: Which tire was flat?"

What exactly is it about, and is it safe to say that forgiveness, considering Joseph took care of his brothers, is a theme?

First off, doesn't it stop becoming "personal" when you Christ Cultists congregate or try to spread you BS religion to other cultures? Personal means you go into your bedroom , lock the door and dance around with snakes, talk to yourself (pray) or read some fiction (the bible).

Secondly, the whole Idea of a relationship with a person you have never met or even worse a deity that doesn't exist seems borderline delusional...wait, it is delusional. With that logic I can claim I have a relationship with Winona Ryder even though I have never met her, spoken to her. Hell my relationship with her has more substance because I can at least look at a picture of her and get wood.

Normally I'd give you my thoughts in order to give you a starting point but this time I want you to give me the starting point :)

"When you meet a swordsman, meet him with a sword. Do not offer a poem to anyone but a poet."

I´m really tired of religious supremacy in numbers. I´m sure that atheists will be for a long time a minority, but the minority that acts from a position of power can lead the masses. This century is the century of connectivity. Today, a lone heretic is not really alone anymore, and acting in concert can go a long way to influence the way the tide rises.

Even if massive amounts of money are being invested by those religious institutions to further their aims, the cause of the atheist can be helped by guerrilla marketing tactics.

I´m asking you if you ever had an idea that you want to share about making the atheist cause stronger.

I´m not talking about fanaticism, I´m talking about tenacity... big difference.

I want to know what my religion is called. I believe in a higher power, very similar to "the force" in Star Wars. I do believe that there is a god, but god is not a deity, but the connection between everyone, and everything as well as the experiences of everone. I think the extra-terrestrials already know this, and they are waiting for us to stop fighting each other over god's real name. I believe that karma is real, and can be instant, or very gradual. I also believe in reincarnation, and ghosts. Ghosts are just spirits who are stuck on this plane for one reason or another. I pretty much believe a little bit of everything anyone has to say.

It makes me so sad to see her acting the way she's acting now. When I was younger she was my idol, my role model and all I wated was to be like her. She has real talent and her songs are great, but the way she's acting and behaving is harming her self public image, her babies, family and yup! her own wellness. I hope all that things they have in the magazines and TV is mere propaganda... but it seems too real, sadly.

Do you pray for Britney Spears and celebrities in similar situations, like Lindsay Lohan and others? because after all they are people too, they have feelings and they are one of God's child too.

I've had people tell me that they "wish" I would believe in God.

Well, go ahead, make your wish--but also, tell me WHY I "should" believe in God.

Just like Cinderella, your wish won't last.

You have until midnight my time (2 hours, 35 minutes) to tell me why, and I promise to take every reason into full consideration--NOT from the point of view of an atheist, but from the point of view of someone undecided.

Time starts now.

Make your wish.

But tell me why.

You might think you and your mind are one in the same but I don't considering I'm constantly telling by mind to shutup so I can sleep or concentrate on something, there is the me telling my tool to shutup because its thoughts aren't needed at this time. I'm sure most of us does this from time to time.

I've never heard it brought up in the medical field but the rambling mind is probably the cause of a lot of insomniacs.

In the eyes of the fence straddlers?
Any realistic idea will be duly noted and stored for possible use.

Conversion of believers and fanatics is out of the question, the first target should be the indecisive.

This Q is the second in a series of strategic planning to study how to curb religious interest in the world.

I was watching this thing on the discovery channel. These guys built this house that works totally on solar power. They were using these new kinds of of solar panels that were efficient enough to power their house. When it got cloudy outside, the panels always had enough stored energy to last for a few weeks without sun. These guys lived in this house for like a year and they never once ran out of energy. They did not pay a single energy bill that entire year. The problem right now is that these new panels are too expensive for the general public. The other problem is that they cannot get any governmental funding to research ways to make them less expensive. If there was a vote of some kind, would you be willing to give up some of the states tax dollars to fund these people????
