I have no intention of building a new "religion" group. My idea is to build a website that would grow into a center of guidance for doubting people, with ramifications going into many subjects like medical, philosophical, engineering, ecology and environment, political awareness, forums and blogs, and above all an ethical charter that would guarantee respect to all and to offer answers when they are available and reports on the limits of knowledge when they are not.
This may sound utopical and it would certainly start very small, but with the help of writers that could post articles and physicians that could counsel the faith depressed, some activist goals and the search for some sponsors, this might just launch.
Ok if this is BS just tell me, I´m just trying to unite in ideology, not to build a cult.
Common sense should not need rescuing, but it does. Especially now.

Terrific goal. This is not BS and certainly worth the effort. I'm a Sam Harris fan with a particular interest in science and religious symbolism. Include me in any effort. I'll do what I can.

Go for it and good luck trying to unite ideology. How are you going to unite ideology when there's such a wide variety of conflicting ideologies? Nobody has succeeded at that so far. But what makes you qualified to provide guidance for doubting people? Which doubts would you address? What about your doubts?

What does it mean to be faith depressed? I've never heard that term. It's it a medical condition? If not a medical condition why would you have physicians counselling them? How would a physician counsel the faith depressed?

You say that common sense needs rescuing? What is common sense? Who gets to decide which sense is common?

Well, I don't mean to rain on your parade but you see what you're up against.

I'm not quite sure if I follow your idea....but it sounds like your goal is to build a site where people can go to find the answers to anything. Something similar to this one, but without disrespect and without bogus answers. If I've got that right, then, in theory, it's a well intentioned idea. However, it doesn't sit well with me because it recquires of people to look to your website as having "all the answers." I can see why this is in the Religion section because ultimately your site would be a semi-replacement for God. The unfallable giver of truth and answers. It just doesn't feel right. You're right though, about the lack of common sense in the world, however, I think causing people to grow dependent on outside sources for their answers to everything would only lessen their common sense, not increase it, because they wont be thinking for themselves.

I'm sorry to say, but "Common Sense" is the most uncommon thing on the planet.
Life will tech you that eventually.
Benjamin Franklin had what is probably the best published array of common sense on record. Most he published under pseudonyms. He is the one who established the principle of Freedom of Religion in our constitution. He was very levelheaded and an absolute genius, yet today few even understand the principles he established.
Go figure.
Best of luck. You have a LIFETIME job ahead of you.

Go for it! It sounds like a LOT of work, but there is definately a need for more people on this planet to use common sense.

I does sound utopial. So, it's not an atheists place, just a place for doubters? I would prefer a place to exchange ideas, etc. by atheists. Good luck with that.

"virtual common sense and common knowledge center"
I'm thinking that's about half the definition of "brain". As far as I know, that came with the package for most of us.

You could build such a site but the people who would need it most would not visit.
