Fear has always been the base for religion, and that is why people are the way they are, creating fear in the hearts of people is the vary best way to control them, and by keeping people in fear gives religion ultimate power over the flock.

Yes, but not with the true religion. The true God, Jehovah, is a God of love and wants all to worship him because they appreciate and love him. He does have requirements, though, for pure clean worship. And he will reward those whom he is pleased with.

The principle at Galatians 6:7,8 applies for all persons.

Fear is based upon error. Many religions use fear to gain compliance. So, yes for some.

If the "religion" is Christianity, then no. It shouldn't be. Christianity is about having the desire to know your Creator, not out of fear, but because only then can you fulfill your purpose and have a relationship with him. :)

Fear is an odd emotion.. it actually causes detachment from the thing feared. If you are afraid of "the devil" you won't want anything to do with the things it represents... In a similar way, saddness can have the same detaching effect.
