Absolutely! There is so much that can be done, if there is the political will. Small countries like Denmark and Iceland have managed to move to a significant amount of renewables for their energy consumption. Do they have more resources than we do in order to pull that off, or do they just have the will to do so? Perhaps we need to start with campaign reform, because it's really the PACs and their contributions that drive the agenda.

Why not require SUV's to get at least 50 mpg, and use diesel electric hybrids to do so, and offer a generous rebate for every car that gets over 75 mpg? .

Yet want to that say that although I am for reducing emissions, i am not part of what has become the "religion" of global warming, the preoccupation of which i believe is largely driven by a desire to ignore or justify traditional moral sins (like illicit sex, etc.), which things kill far more people (half a million Americans alone from AIDS) than Global warming would. I think earth was once quite warmer and the benefits of a couple degrees warmer may outweigh the detriments.
But an increasingly wicked world which has cast aside the laws of God and misused the good things He gave us to our benefit will one day realize a greater form of global warming:
"And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. {9} And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory" (Rev 16:8, 9).
"Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19).
"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit" (1 Pet 3:18) .
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Rom 10:9).
"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).
