And dont spill one drop;and He would let you into Heaven, would you do it?

I've been hearing a lot of that lately by reading spiritual books....I guess I won't understand the concept until I actually do it myself....what's so good about giving? I mean, I KNOW it's good to give to others who are less fortunate than me but what do you get out of it? I mean, pure love is something you give without expecting anything back, right? But what's so good about it?

Where did people get the idea that with out the ten commandments there would be no law?

Do they not understand that laws have existed before the time of the bible and will long after it has faded into obscurity?

Matthew chapter 24

29."The sun will grow dark, the moon will no longer shine, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers in space will be driven from their courses. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky; and all the peoples of earth will weep as they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 The great trumpet will sound, and he will send out his angels to the four corners of the earth, and they will gather his chosen people from one end of the world to the other.”

I know it's short for fundamentalist. But what make an individual a fundie?

I am a Christian. I believe and follow the teachings of the Bible but I do not consider myself a fundamentalist.

We all know that micro evolution can happen. But it happens within a KIND. You can create adaptations in a kind, but can't form a new kind! This is what the science tell us.

Oh, I should probably tell you now that I am not talking about biological evolution, but cultural.

So we see that a European can move to the US, but they still eat European food! Have you ever witnessed a European eating a hamburger?

If you were to somehow show me that one kind can evolve into a different kind (culturally), then I would also have to admit that I understood how it could happen biologically. But since I refuse to understand how biological evolution can work on a macro scale, I also can't understand how it can work on a cultural scale. This is because both biological and cultural evolution on a macro scale has no mechanism difference from micro, just a time difference. But I obviously refuse to acknowledge that.

What say you?

Everything we are and everything we have accomplished is both a result of the existence of and our understanding/using these fundamental forces: strong force, weak force, electromagnetic, gravitation. While our understanding of these is not perfect in all cases, we can work with and predict them and (important in this question) their interaction.

Now if magic existed I would expect some great big honking hole in these theories, a missing part, a question mark. It's not there. So what is it that you think makes magic work?

Bonus question: given the nature of people, why hasn't anyone used magic to rob a bank or similar?

Let's face it, there are hundreds of different religions, each with different viewpoints, beliefs and interpretations.

Suppose God appeared through a supernatural event, and everyone acknowledge that he was someone coming from a heavenly realm.

Who do you think he'll say has been the current religion that has been adhering to his original teachings, creed and beliefs? (let's bear in mind that there was only 1 ark during Noah's flood).

Please support your answer with a well-thought out answer.

(Any one-liners or frivolous responses, would of course, speak poorly of the responder's religion or beliefs, so I would really appreciate serious responders. Just imagine as if God himself is reading these posts - which I'm sure we all know he's capable of).

Sunspot Activity at it Highest coming-When the belt is turning "fast," it means that lots of magnetic fields are being swept up, and that a future sunspot cycle is going to be intense. This is a basis for forecasting: "The belt was turning fast in 1986-1996," says Hathaway. "Old magnetic fields swept up then should re-appear as big sunspots in 2010-2011."

NASA is tracking a PHA (Potentially Hazardous Asteroid) called Toutatis or object 4179.
asteroid 4179 Toutatis (too-ta'-tis) is an Apollo, an Alinda and a Mars-crosser asteroid with a chaotic orbit produced by a 3:1 resonance with the planet Jupiter. This resonance is caused by periodic gravitational influence on each other, due to orbital periods being related. This results in a unstable interaction as the to bodies try to rid themsleves of this imbalance and exchnage momentum and shift orbits. So is this all psuedo

Having just answered a question about Churches blaming gay people for hurricanes and AIDS... it occurs to me that the church I attend most regularly (unitarian universalist) has a very large number of Gay people (as well as every race under the sun).

The fundamental difference between a UU church and others is that ALL people are welcome and no one is blamed for their life condition.
There is a sign posted out front that reads "This is a Hate-Free Zone."

How does your church respond to such societal matters?

And they took offense at Him.... - Matthew 13:57

Jesus taught in the synagogue in the community He grew up in. He was raised as a local carpenter's son. No one saw any miraculous powers in this young boy's life. But something changed as He became older. "Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?" Those in the community could not reconcile God's work in someone they thought they knew simply as the carpenter's son. God brings every person who is committed to Him out of their normal routine into a new revelation of Himself that impacts others.

I do not believe in God and I have sinned many times haha.. Does this mean I am gonna go to hell?
What if God really is real, he's gonna punish me for not believing in him!!

And if I killed myself would I never be free?
I would forever be a prisoner of the devil, because to take life is playing God.. And that is not for mortals to do!

What happens when you die? -cries-

I am atheist and do not have a high opinion of Anne Coulter.

I am curious to see if religious views and political views correlate regarding opinions on Anne Coulter.

What are your views about Anne Coulter, her comments and opinions, and her writing? If you have read her book "Godless", what was your opinion on it?

So many American answers seem to contain biblical quotes and seem to try to convert the unbeliever. I know a lot of the questions are designed to provoke that reaction but i would seriously like to hear some opinions from non-religious Americans.
In the UK religious people tend to do there own thing and not ram it down the throats of of others, with the exception of the born again lot.
Please no quotes from the bible, just your own opinions.
