Everyone says that Godless people live unfulfilled lives. I am an atheist all the way and I feel very very blessed. I have my own house, a good job, plenty of food, all kids of good stuff. I don't exactly see what I am missing out on.

Since 99% of scientists conclude that all life evolved from a common ancestor, (this includes scientists that are Christians, Atheists, Jews, Agnostics etc.) why do laymen think they have good reason to think otherwise?

Whether there is a God or not, evolution happened, is happening, and will continue to do so.

If you think it didn't, you are listening to radical fringe "scientists" who have no respect in the scientific community and whose essays and books are always well refuted by mainstream scientists.

If there is a God, he would want you to be on the side of the truth now don't you think?

Have you done a thorough objective search to determine what the truth is regarding evolution?

Poiticians or Extremists or Anti Christ or whatever?

Why not Love, Peace, Respect, Humor and
Mother Terasa, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Moses, Muhammed, Budda, Jesus and so many others. Why not focus our thoughts entirely on them and draw inspiration from them?

not even written in the Bible? For example I went to an amusement park (Magic Springs in Hot Springs Ar) last weekend on Christian Youth day. There were Christians from all denominations there. I am of the Baptist faith myself and we took our youth. Well you had your holiness or apostolic types there wearing their long sleeve shirts and blue jean dresses there also. It was nearly 100 Deg F. that day! Don't you people realize God doesn't want you to die of heat exhaustion just because you think you gotta have some UNBIBLICAL dress code. Then one of these holiness girls rode a rollar coaster and threw up after she exited the ride. A bunch of holiness people formed a circle around this girl and all put their hands on her and started praying cause she GOT SICK ON A ROLLAR COASTER. 75% of people who ride rollar coaster will get sick in the form of a head ache or nausia. That is not what Jesus had in mind when He died on the cross.

I am not religious as such, but sometimes when I read some of the comments on this site, I lose hope.

Not in life just in people.

Anyone else had similar experiences?

A few years ago I was going through a particularly rough patch in life. I found then that thinking about God gave me a certain comfort that made me feel better about myself. You could say that I found God and let him into my life then.

Anyway now am am doing much better and have a career and a girlfriend with a lovely home. these days I feel i don't need God and have even started to think from an Atheist point of view. I am standing on my own two feet

Does this mean I am condemned to hell just because God isn't really part of my life now??

Or could it be THEIR personal god (not yours), or maybe even just a figure of speech?

Why isn't there a commandment written about it? Did God run out of rocks or lighting bolts? Did he get tired and give up after 10?

I believe it was John Wesley -- the man behind the Wesleyan faith (such as Methodist) that spoke these words. What did it mean? And would it mean that a dirty person could not be Godly?

There is a measure of faith in every man and woman that cannot be denied.

I have seen many people change from skeptics to believers in Christ.

All pro-life arguements seem to be linked with religion. Can you give me one that's not? (Life is NOT sacred, it's just life).
If not (and it would have to be a VERY compelling reason), abortion should never be outlawed because that would be linking religion and government.
(It is your CHOICE to be religious and pro-life, just as it is mine to be atheist and pro-choice).

This website baffles me sometimes. Everyday I get a combination of "Violation Notice" and "Congratulations: Your Answer Was Picked as the Best Answer" emails from Yahoo. What am I: Jeckle and Hyde?
In an answer to a "Santa Claus" question, I quoted an ENCYCLOPEDIA ARTICLE about Saint Nicholas, got a Violation Notice for objectionable content, and my answer was deleted! Holy Moley - What's up with that?
I quote the Catholic Catechism one time and get all Thumbs-Down, and the next time I quote it get all Thumbs-Up.
I keep getting people connecting with me who disagree with me 100% . What's up with that?
This place is way out man. Well, I'll just keep saying what I believe, then sit back and freak out at the results.

Anyone else here experience this type of thing?

Was it arbitrary? A "best response" to the patriarchal society of the day (that continues)? Would God's message not have been received if Jesus had been a female?

Every argument the Christians have against homosexuals can be reduced to the idea that gays have cooties. Why is this?

Do we not leave the idea of 'cooties,' behind at the age of 5 or 6? Is it possible that in believing in the fairy tales of the bible, one expresses a child-like mentality, which is precisely why such a child-like mentality would continue to believe in the concept of 'cooties' and thereby attribute cooties to people who are like they are?

have you had any personal growth fromm this whole Y! answers thing?
I have had a bit. I was down right bigoted towards alot of religous folks but have really come to find more commonalities at the core than differences. In fact most of the differences I have found between all the different groups have turned out to be pretty superficial when looked at from an outside perspective. Not to say that some folks dont piss me off to no end nor that I dont have my trolly fussy daze but... well thx folks I appreciate your help in making me the Jamus I would rather be.

What about you?

As a Christian we are often ostracized for trying to spread the gospel to those who do not want it. Yet, we see them as hurting people who are committing spiritual suicide, and we are trying to help them rather than let them do what they want.
