DH - so a tatoo of a cross would be ok, but not of a pentacle?

D H is right. The bible doesn't strictly forbid tatoos for tatoos sake, but forbids tattoos or cutting in mourning for the dead, which was a pagan practice. Since the Jews were to seperate themselves from pagan practices, they were forbidden it.
So are you getting henna to worship someone? If not, then don't worry about it.

'You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD."

Believer.. yes. Tatoos sin.... not sure on that one, it's up to God to make that decision. Personally... think most are hideous, although I've seen a few that were nice.

My kids have worn fake tatoos, the ones you get wet and they transfer to the skin. I'm kind of picky about what it is and where they put it.

Henna.... most of them are beautiful!! Love the curves, the lines, just so gorgeous. Actually looked in to getting a small design at a fair, but the cost was too dear.

However believers feel about tatoos I would say that Henna is perfectly ok. I think that its artful, tasteful and best of all temporary! Im sure some bible beaters will throw the line "you body is a temple" but in my opinion Henna is beautifil and artistic so go for it!!!! :)

I don't know why believers would think tattoos are a sin - God is referring to markings on the body that signify worship of false gods.

=EDIT=
For a Christian - if they sincerely feel the tatoo is innocent and is not promoting anything that they shouldn't be promoting I see no restriction.
I would like to get a design with my daughters name in it.

Amusing sidenote: It is customary in certain Christian circles to whip oneself in order to "bring themselves closer to God" by experiencing a taste of the pain Jesus felt when He Himself was whipped. These whipping sessions often leave scars.

So I guess scarification has to be alright, doesn't it?
