Its often been said that we really know of only one man who in history who is saved for sure. That is, of course, the thief who was crucified alongside Jesus. Jesus said to him "today you and I will be together in paradise". No where else is the Bible that clear about the fate of any particular human soul. Although I think there was at least one person in the Old Testament who was raised up into heaven.

But what about Hell? Does the Bible tell us of any particular people who are in Hell, or who were at least bound for Hell?

I am not talking about various passages that say what KIND of people will go to Hell. Rather I am asking is if there is are any individual persons who we know are in Hell?

No matter what a person is done, salvation is always a possibility for them. So there is no one in history that we can look at and know for sure where they are in the afterlife.

I don't believe anyone should accept the Nobel Peace Prize.

One who truly works for peace should have no desire for a prize. One seeks peace because of the principles they stand for...whether you are recognized or not.

Is this a far fetch idea?

since there is no such thing as literal

even the word "literal" was built upon metaphors (it was derived from the more tangible concept/word "letter")

PEW Global Attitudes Poll. http://pewglobal.org/commentary/display.php?AnalysisID=1009

I do apologize for supporting my position. Reality is ugly, so make sure to respond with unsupported wishful thinking, or if your Muslim, with propaganda.

Read all the PEW polls since 911 while your at it...in fact, research PEW itself, see if I exagerrate when I say they are the best in the world in terms of reputation.

If most...again...most (as in majority) muslims share Bin Ladens worldview, than we cant really call Bin Laden and extremist, because theres nothing extreme about his views within his community. Maybe you can call him militant, but considering that almost all armed conflict worldwide is Islamic, you certainly cant say hes in a small club.

A few days ago Scooter Libby was pardoned by our "chistian" President because the sentence was too harsh he said. Curious about what the bible says about this issue I found
Deuteronomy 19:18-19, Proverbs 19:5, Matthew 19:18, Mark 10:19, Exodus 20:16, Luke 18:20, Romans 13:9 And these are only a few that say a false witness/ liar, a person that commits perjury should be punished and sometimes by death. So was 30 months too harsh? And does President Bush really beleive and fear God or is this just a show for those not smart enough to know better?

You see, I'm a 19 yr ol guy preparing for Medical school (my main goal). I have been raise in strong Christian values. This may sound stupid, but do you'll think I should date Christian girls or is it ok to date any girl. What is your opinion? My parents warn me all the time about girls and finishing school.

I see so many people say, "Why are you Atheists here on the religious forum?" I like the diversity of people on R & S. It's good that we don't all agree because we learn a lot from each other. I learned yesterday that Muslims celebrate the 4th of July. Didn't know that. The bickering doesn't bother me. We attack them as much as they attack us. It's just how the site works. What does everyone else think?

I am currently trying to learn more about Magick, and would like to determine which "path" I should choose (whether I study Ceremonial Magick, Wicca, and etc). I am wondering how is the Magick of the different branches different. For from what I understand Magick comes from the same source. Also which is the "best path" to follow according to your own personal oppinions/ experience? And what is the best way to approach Magick? I am currently practicing meditation, and reading several Magick related books and sites.

I notice when I drive, if I see a bird coming towards me I tend to always want to duck down and even catch myself doing it.
I do this while logically knowing that the bird most likely isnt going to fly through the windshield and attack me.
Do you have expereinces where your perception defies logic..and what is your reaction when you catch yourself in this mode of action/thinking?
What this has to do with RS is up for you to decide.

And while I am at it should I send a big shout out to Julia...my stalker for the day!! Yippie go Julia!

I know there are extraordinary situations in which killing oneself is the lesser of two evils (as in one is going to die anyway and due to unbearable pain wants to choose the time of their departure, or people in the WTC buildings who jumped rather than be burned or crushed or torn apart), but besides that, is killing oneself a sane thing to do?

And to make it appropriate for this section: was Jesus sane when he heard the voice of God (or himself, for those who subscribe to Trinity theology) telling him that he had to allow himself to die a gruesome, torturous death in order to "save" mankind? Wouldn't a sane person have said "God/Me, that doesn't make any sense. Why the blood sacrifice? Couldn't you/I just pick a daisy and then proclaim that by picking the daisy, all their sins are forgiven?"

everyone has a moral code no matter if one believes in a god or doesnt???
morality is a philosophical concept rather than religious.
morality is based more on background, history and education than on religious beliefs.
Let me just remind religious people that no so long ago, christians accepted racism as a normal thing (black people not allowed in places just for white people) and i think that your religion was exactly the same as it is today.
Moral codes evolve and adjust depending on the historical moment so it is not an exclusive domain of religion.

The God's and Goddesses in Hindu are forms or expressions of the one God. Christianity also has 3 forms of one God. Islam, again, one God. Jewish one God. There are common points between the religions of the West and the East. Most Atheists I know also adhere to the golden rule. Is it possible we are all the same inside? At the very least human? And should treat each other with tolerance, respect, love, and help one another whenever possible? Agree?
