Yes, it is far fetched. People don't usually start those things aiming for a Nobel Prize, but that's no reason they shouldn't accept their well-earned reward. Should we just ignore what they're doing too? How about never giving them any press or letting anyone donate? Should they have to suffer through the whole thing? Of course not.

I wouldn't accept the Noble Peace Prize! It's probably just a Nobel knock off.

Those people who have been selected to receive such an honor have just as might right to accept as anyone who accepts any honor. This is the way we humans show recognition to others for their accomplishments. If it were you to be chosen for this honor, would you turn it down? If it were your family member, would you tell them to turn it down?
I am sure when these honored people are in the process of doing their fine works, that receiving a prize is the least of their concerns. Nobody starts such endeavors with THAT in mind. These people do far too much work and are too involved to see this as the end result.
Does a fireman rescue one and save a life from a burning building because he knows he will be honored as a "hero?"

Garbage.... if there were any reason not to accept the Nobel Peace Prize is that it has been rendered a mockery by being so political.... a prize for planting trees... get real.

"One who truly works for peace should have no desire for a prize" - This may be true, but just because the motivation for their work is not a prize does not mean they cannot or should not accept the prize for a job well done.

people who artwork for peace for the sake of a prize do no longer deserve the prize interior the 1st place. people who artwork for peace ought to pursue what they're doing, although if or no longer they're regarded, as you stated. although, i do no longer see why people who've made significant contributions here in the international ought to ought to reject it. I doubt Martin Luther King, Jr. had the Prize in ideas jointly as maximum advantageous the Civil Rights circulate. people who're provided the Nobel Peace Prize, although have a decision concerning to although if to get carry of or reject it. as long as they did no longer do what they did with the point of repute, the two is nice. Oh, and hear Pretsler, Jeanne B, and eastonpress. they particularly lots typed what i exchange into questioning.

I doubt what they're thinking as they're promoting and working for peace is "Man! Can't wait to get that prize!" The prize just happens to come because of their actions. It's not their goal, just the icing on the cake.
