The God's and Goddesses in Hindu are forms or expressions of the one God. Christianity also has 3 forms of one God. Islam, again, one God. Jewish one God. There are common points between the religions of the West and the East. Most Atheists I know also adhere to the golden rule. Is it possible we are all the same inside? At the very least human? And should treat each other with tolerance, respect, love, and help one another whenever possible? Agree?

If you want to consider Hinduism monotheistic, fine, but that's more of a PR thing. It all begs the question of what's so bad about polytheism in the first place.

No, we're not all the same inside. Granted we're all human. But I myself firmly do not believe in the golden rule, and I do not believe in treating each and every person with "tolerance, respect, love and help one another whenever possible".

Typically I do give people the benefit of the doubt, and I pretty much mind my own business. But there are some people who have proven themselves to be nothing but irresponsible twits, and they do not deserve the same respect from me that other people do. "The Golden Rule" just lets people walk over you; it offers no solution against the people who act irresponsible and bother people in the first place.

By the way, the Golden Rule goes right out the window when you ask Baha'i (and several other religions) about homosexuals or if their priesthood or similar hierarchy will allow women.

This is only somewhat true. The Hindu religion believes in many gods, one higher God, and above that, essentially oneness. This is quite different from the Western Gods/gods. Furthermore, this is not the only Eastern religion.

Tolerance, respect, and love might be shared by the religions, but that does not mean the religions all share a part in some greater truth. They just have a little bit of basis in the reality of what keeps people happy and alive.

I am a minster to India which is 83% Hindu. Hindu does not have one God. Hindu has 3 seperate and distinct main gods. It is their twisted version of the Christian Trinty. they believe that after total enlightenment is achieved thru sucessive lives on earth then they merge with the universe, thus one is all and all is god. Nor do they have the 'golden rule' each person (soul) is on its on journey and are where they are because of their past life. Thus the poor and laim are simply disregarded as it is their fault and they are not to be helped. If helped then you are messing up the Karma and causing them even more lives to reach 'enlightenment'.
It is true that many religions use a similar "golden rule" as Christians but their doctrine if understood are contrary to their own 'golden rule' only Christianities doctrine holds true to the 'golden rule'. In truth the only thing that we have in common is the dep seated needs pertaining to be human and this is what satan has used to prevert man bringing him to worship falsely as in India where they literally worship anything and everything. Some sources say they have 32 million gods and others say up to 300 million gods. I have pictures of them worshiping trees with shrine and all.

I don't believe that Hindus have only one god, they have many and throughout India they worship each god or goddess in local villages. Although Shiva is one of their main gods and their is a strong following of people who follow Vishnu also. There is many truths to what you say but from my studying of religion this summer there all very different and must be looked at in that life. It is safe to say that the major world religions do not promote violence. Sadly people fail to realize it's been time periods where people of different religious faith live together without conflict even in the Middle East!

Of course. Every Religion has just One God, mainly. Even in Paganism/Politheism there always was a "King of the Gods". Sure we have to Respect Each Others, in the Name of God, the Creator of everything and everyone. INNER PEACE.

Yes! I'm a Baha'i. Baha'u'llah says religion is one, revealed progressively like knowledge in grades in school. Hiduism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Buddhism, Chrisitanity, Islam, Bab'i, and Baha'i Faith are connected ever-evolving expressions of the same eternal spiritual truths with new social teachings for every 500 to 1000 years. Hinduism is the oldest monotheistic religion that we have historical records for.

Its fundamental monotheism is easy to overlook by those who have only looked shallowly since, like Christianity, Buddhism, and Islam, thousands of sects, each with its own interpretation have sprung up over the centuries, and encrusted the original scriptures, now virtually lost to history, with man-made dogma. Additionally, villagers have added their local ancient, pre-historic, folk-religions to Hinduism, like we see happened to Buddhism. Only the ignorant worship trees and such in their search for meaning.

Yes, Geezah, it is true that service on the Universal House of Justice, the highest institution of the Baha'i Faith, is confined to men, liberating women for far more important responsibilities; and sets sexual relations as properly expressed inside marriage between males and females. Gay Baha'is like straight Baha'is who are unmarried refrain from expressing their sexuality through physical relationships. Baha'i standards are not a secret, so stop with the attitude.

Glad to see a Hindu here!

Yes,they are expansions of one entity. Just as it can be said that on one level all religions are somewhat pantheistic,it can with equal justice be said that all religions are ultimately and fundamentally monotheist. I never liked the jewish claim that theirs was the first monotheist religion. They have a "lesser Jehovah" known as Metatron. I agree with you entirely. I once Hindism and found it had many admirable features. I remain a catholic, but it left me with considerable respect for a very old and venerable faith.

No, although different religion around the world believe in one God still we are different from them because their god is a god made of stone, wood and anything within the earth and above the heaven but our God is a living God, Jesus Christ who died and rose again to be the king of Kings and lord of Lords of the Living and the Dead.

Yes I know. That is also true to Christianity where THE FATHER GOD in celesetial heaven before time began (Dan 7:9-14) coronated HIS BEGOTTEN SON, THE SPIRIT called THE SON OF MAN with glory, honor and dominion and as a result made HIM as THE LORD AND GOD over this universe and its unending world called omega which was created as another and new dimension of realtiy for the new creations of THE LORD GOD called men. THANKS GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD.Pls visit my website-THEGOODNEWSOFTHEKINGDOM@yahoogroups.com
