everyone has a moral code no matter if one believes in a god or doesnt???
morality is a philosophical concept rather than religious.
morality is based more on background, history and education than on religious beliefs.
Let me just remind religious people that no so long ago, christians accepted racism as a normal thing (black people not allowed in places just for white people) and i think that your religion was exactly the same as it is today.
Moral codes evolve and adjust depending on the historical moment so it is not an exclusive domain of religion.

in the U.S 50 years ago racism was generally accepted for most white chrsitians and that is a fact, they didnt call it racism, it was the normal thing...morality doesnt stand on religious beliefs but on educational, for white christians 50 years aback it was normal that black people couldnt use their pools and/or churches so it was not morally wrong not to accept black people, and that is a fact and history

It makes no sense that it all came from a holy text. We would HAVE to make laws to live together if we wanted civilization.

And yes, clearly culture is a big influence in morality, and vice versa. Even religion, especially Christianity, succumbs to this greater power over time.

According to what I have read in the Bible (and I am no expert), Jesus mingled with all races and all people regardless of how much money they had or the color of their skin, etc. That is the way I have always tried to model my life. People, no matter what belief system they have or do not have are never perfect. They make mistakes, you make mistakes. My morals (and I am not perfect) come from within. I listen to whatever is inside of me to know what is right and what is wrong. Humans evolve. I am not sure that morals evolve as the moment dictates, as you suggest. Perhaps, but I think morals come from one's upbringing and what is inside, intermingled with religion and knowledge and a myriad of other factors.

I would like to know what happened to make you ask this question or offer your suggestion that morality is not necessarily a religious matter?

Christians did NOT accept racism as a normal thing. People who CLAIMED to be Christians used the Word of God for wrong. Let's not twist the facts here. You have a choice whether or not you will believe in God. Do not look for me to understand that fact regardless of how "moral" you are. God does not use a person's "morality" as a master key into His Kingdom. He gave us Jesus, the Perfect Sacrifice for Salvation!

Christians (at least the ones I know) DO know that everyone has a moral code. We just believe we have found the "right" one and we want everyone to be as happy as we are.

As to Christians accepting racism: Sometimes people don't ask God what he thinks about things, and we run with our opinions.

Dude: Just so that you know, everyone has a conscience put in place by God. He is the source of your being, your ability to choose, and he measures time by heartbeats. Racism was never accepted or endorsed by true Christians. Segregation is man-made and God has never endorsed it. Although we are all products of our environment, the Word of God is still the standard by which all men shall be judged. Ignorance of the law is no excuse for breaking the law. If you don't believe me tell it to the judge next time a cop tickets you for something that you deem incorrect.
Besides, we have a Bible to teach us what God's moral code is, so get reading!

I agree, morality doesn't come from the bible it comes from your history and how you was brought up. It has nothing to do with whether you believe in God or not. Doesn't mean just because you believe in God you are going to have better morals than everyone else

You are right in saying that everyone has a moral code. The moral code you refer to is a dynamic thing; it is changeable. The Bible establishes a moral code that has a solid foundation that will not change. I do not want to be judged by a changing standard of morals, but by a consistent one.
God promises that.

Without regard for affiliation with any given faith...People are people. Many are simply incapable (or, at the very least, incredibly unwilling, the result is the same) of higher levels of rational thought or elevated consciousness, so they rely on someone else (spiritual or political leaders) to tell them what they should think in tiny, easily digested pieces of dogma.

Expecting such persons to change their ways or to understand anything foreign to their spoon-fed 'truths' is analogous to expecting a kindergarten class to fully understand Einstein's special relativity.

Yes morality does not depend on religion whatsoever, yet it takes religion to keep someone with bad morals in line (sad but true).
