This is what the First Admendment says:
Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Speration of church and state is not even in our constituion. Why do some many people say it is?

I have heard so many times from various Christians that I must believe in this or that to go to heaven or avoid hell.

What about telling me how by following your particular religion I will be a better person, a more productive member of society, and happier.

Maybe your message would come across better that instead of tempting me damming me with something I cannot relate to that you give me something real and tangible.

I have never met a person that changed their beliefs because of what would happen to them in death, but I have met many that changed because they were happier and better people than they were before.

Though small in comparison to others, I could use prayer please. I am going to the dentist tomorrow and getting a root canal. Seems I can never get use to sitting in that chair. I get extreme anxiety and it is overpowering. Please, would you mind praying for me to be calm and free from anxiety to sit peacefully through the procedure? I do appreciate any prayers. I would also like to ask for prayer for my family. My family is going through a divorce. My little sister and brother are struggling....please pray for their faith to be strong and their spirits to be strong. My name is Angelina, there's are Nicole and Vince. Thank you!

People who find it hard to believe in God, when was the last time you actually read the bible through and took the time too understand the meaning of the words?
I dont mean when ur a kid, because your boundry of reality was small so there were a lot of things to learn then and concentration could slip easily.
Maybe now is a good time to understand it? Or even just to see what all the fuss is about? It explains a lot, it may not make you believe, but i do believe it can make some peoples life happier.

If not why?

God is the one who holds the moon, the stars and the whole universe in place.
If it weren't for Him you wouldn't be here today, He knew your name before you were ever thought of.
Who are you to think you can scratch God out with a Sharpie?

Morally, I feel he needs to leave our church. The sooner the better. Friendships in the church are being broken apart. Not talking with each other anymore. Alot of damage being done. I think he should leave town NOW, so we can repair the damage he caused. It is hard to listen to his sermons on Sundays, knowing what he has done. And he has no remorse for what he has done. Hasn't appologized at all. He did confess to the congregation, but pretty much put the blame on to those of us who caught him doing wrong!! What should we do? Where do we turn?

According to my study bible, it says that the vocabulary and style of the other letters of paul differ in many ways from those of 1 timothy. Also, key concepts such as faith, law, and righteousness are different as well as historical situations described by Pastorals aren't accommodated by what we know of Paul;s career based on Acts and other Letters. Even if a secretary wrote 1 Timothy from sketchy notes or a later author crafted them around fragments of authentic letters, it is said they are best acknowledged to be written by an unknown author who used Paul's name to give authority to his attempt to address problems in some post-Pauline churches.

I'm having some trouble understanding how some of the verses here fit into God's over all plan since they seem to contradict other parts of the bible (example: women shouldn't teach men) Please help me understand.

Please- only educated answers from people with a background in this information.

i don't think there's anything biblical about this. in fact, i'm fairly sure lucifer was a cherub. so why did we start drawing/painting him as a red guy with a moustache, a pitchfork, horns, a tail, and cloven hooves? does this image come from mythology?

Ok- someone asked for prayers for her granddaughter. A Wiccan member of our little forum here offered up a prayer in her own way, yet all that people could manage to do was spread the intolerance with a bunch of thumbs down for the woman.

I was taught to believe that ANY prayer, if it is heartfelt, is more than good enough, regardless of the religion of the person offering it up.

Why are some of you so petty and intolerant that you have to be nasty like that? Isn't it enough that the girl gets the prayers, no matter how they get there???

Are some of you that damn shallow?

I want you to answer about a religion/non-religion not your own. I'm not asking you to say that you respect a part of their religion/non-religion. I know that, at least with the atheists up here, they don't always respect the foundations of Christianity. Understandable. I'm asking all of you to tell me what characteristics could you admire/respect in a person in regards to their faith. Would you respect them if they had unwavering belief in their faith or god? Purely evident devotion? Open-mindedness? Zeal? What?

Remember, answer about something you're not a part of.

For me, I have to respect the atheist and Muslim. Atheists: Some of them do read the Bible and can easily combat someone in Christianity. I admire that. Sometimes they know more than Christians themselves. They also, even if I don't agree with them, a lot of times give intelligent answers. Muslims: I admire their zeal. Once again, don't exactly agree, but they have a devotion/zeal I highly respect.

As a Christian who believes in God and follows the teachings of Jesus, I wonder about the Muslim religion. I have never met anyone Muslim, nor do I know much about the additional teachings of thier last prophet, Mohammad. Please tell me what additional teachings (other than those that Jesus taught) did Mohammad preach for us to follow in the Qu'ran. What additonal steps would a practicing Christian woman need to take to be a good Muslim (for example).

Why aren't more Muslims trying to convert Christians if they believe they are being mislead in ignorance? Are we on the same team? Or do Christians and Muslims really disagree about God's purposes and plans in our lives or can a good Christian be a good Muslim?

I'm sorry if I'm not using the proper terminology. . . I'm just trying to learn about differences in beliefs here.

Also, what does PBUH mean? I see it written all the time.
