Ignorance.

Because our society has long been receiving mixed messages as to how to treat religious issues. We are told to think for ourselves, but conversely are called "unpatriotic", "godless", etc., if we do just that. Such messages are like telling a dog to sit up, lie down, and roll over, all at the same time. After a while, the dog will just sit there and drool on your shoe. Likewise, after years of confused conditioning by the government, churches, the media, etc., people just don't know what to do anymore when faced with opinions that don't mesh with the ones that they have been indoctrinated with since birth, and so they just sit there and do the verbal and mental equivalent of drooling on your shoes. It's the inevitable action to take, and they can't help it anymore than the dog can.

I have been wondering the same thing. I try to just ignore people who get insulting. If they disagree with my stance as a Christian that is their right. I think alot of these people just do not have anything better to do than harass each other.

A lot of these things are taken personally because these are some of people core values. I don't believe that people should get offended though. It is their own fault if they can't handle someone telling them their beliefs are stupid, or unjustified. In reality that person or those people saying these things have no real influence on how someone is going to believe.

This is something you'll never see here
"Does God exist"
'NO!'
"Ok I'll just not believe in God."

I think most of them are just bored and frustrated. As you said, they've nothing better to do, or at least nothing they'd rather do. They know a live person wouldn't stand for such rudeness, but on the Internet they can be as obnoxious as they like. Fortunately, the ones who do that are a tiny minority.

Because everyone thinks that their way is the only true right way. When I was little I was at church every chance I could get. But today I choose not to believe in such things. I get put down all the time bc of it. I dont worship the devil. I dont believe in him either.

Unfortunately, being anonymous brings out the worst of people.

Also, some people will say anything for the quick 2 points.

Some people must "cut down" other people so that they can "feel big."

Depends on the way a question is worded. If it sounds like they have to defend their own beliefs they will. Just like you would get if you felt you had to defend yours. Insulting is a word you use to describe that they are affecting you with what they say.

Great question. I was looking for a real answer on something I asked, and so far have gotten junk from people who aren't helping in the least. It's like, go waste someone else's time, please! Your question helped me feel better, knowing I'm not the only one going through this though.

Selfish and ignorant people who believe that their opinions are a gift from God and the rest is garbage. The did not grow up with tolerance , understanding and respecting other peoples opinions.
So all we got to do is not to become like them.
