I just really feel like there can't be a God with all the **** that's happening in the world. I pray but nothing ever happens. I've asked God to help me but I get nothing. I know there has to be a God, I mean we can't all just have appeared out of nowhere or evolved from other creatures but I'm always questioning things and I don't think I believe anymore. What can I do?

Cults are far to numerous to list all of them in the following, so I will try to narrow the avenue of approach. All cults use isolation/brainwashing, elitism & the "strength in numbers" routine , but I'm am not asking which is more dangerous by numerical size but by PURPOSE. All cults use mind control weather in mass or individually, so this leaves open the whole field of cults for comment. Keep in mind that tho both communism & nazism(fascism) were/are physically deadly cults, as much damage to individuals can be perpetrated physically, emotionally & financially by other cults such as "heavens gate", "moonies", "calvary chapel", "J/W's" & "islam". I mean "amway" was even titled a cult, at one time at least, due to their suggestive reasoning/mind control schemes that closely mimicked J/W's, mormon's & adventists.

I am curious to see how the two opposing groups of people (religious and non-religious) respond to this question when it is applied to religious beliefs.

We have a warped idea of Tolerance today. At one point, tolerance meant that you RESPECTED what others believed, but you could still believe that they were wrong. Now, Tolerance has been warped to mean that we have to accept other view points as equally valid as our own.
I reject this tolerance out of hand.
Sadly, many "christians" today do not.
The belief in Absolute Truth is a basis of faith. If anyone claims to be a Christian, they agree (or should) that Jesus is the way, the truth and the light and that NONE come to the Father, except through Him.
To accept that other beliefs are valid as well, and that truth is relative, is to negate your own faith.
I say be respectful, be kind, be loving, but do NOT be this NEW form of "tolerant"

My daughter (age 15) is leaving tomorrow for her 3rd short term mission trip to a mission station in Honduras. Her and her group are all women, (she is the only teen who was invited for this trip), will be working at a local school and will be helping in construction of a community centre.
She raises all the money for these trips herself as we could have never afforded it - praise the Lord she is willing and the Lord has been faithful.

If you think of it, could you all please say a prayer for her and her team as they travel and work for the Lord?

ps
My daughter felt the call to missions at age 12. She has been to Honduras (in 2005) and to New Orleans (last march break). She is a special girl who loves the Lord and as a mother, I am truly blessed that the Lord entrusted us to have her as our daughter.

thank you all :)
blessings!

If God accepted Jesus' sacrifice as payment for the sins of mankind; Then why will mankind still be punished for the crimes Jesus' sacrifice paid for?

So since you say there is no scientific proof of God...What if you found evidence that proved to YOU that He was real...How would you react? Would you change your ways? Would you live by God's word to get into Heaven?

I am a believer. If I am wrong, I have nothing to loose. Some people say "well, if you are wrong you may have wasted your life."

Those people call living the life as drinking alcohol, smoking, and being a everyday party person. For me, that is not investing my time.

If I am wrong, I don't go to heaven. Without loosing anything. If I am right, I go to heaven and win everything.

Now, if atheists are wrong, then they have a lot to loose. I wont have anything to loose if I am wrong. Do you?

Note: I do not pretend to say that all atheists live the alcohol and smoking or party life.

If I am wrong, well I lost nothing. What abut you?

i may not be so almighty as he is but i can really live without his love...
Man, if he is so almighty why isnt he doing something better with his time than expecting his creation to love and worship him??? or in case he is so desperate for love, why doesnt he create other creations who blindly love him???

A. THE FORMATION OF THE NEW TESTAMENT CANON (A.D. 100-220)
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/03274a.htm
The idea of a complete and clear-cut canon of the New Testament existing from the beginning, that is from Apostolic times, has no foundation in history. The Canon of the New Testament, like that of the Old, is the result of a development, of a process at once stimulated by disputes with doubters, both within and without the Church, and retarded by certain obscurities and natural hesitations, and which did not reach its final term until the dogmatic definition of the Tridentine Council. ("Canon of the New Testament")
There is a lot of confusion about the earliest existing texts of the Bible. The oldest extant manuscript of the Bible is believed to be the Codex Vaticanus, (preserved in the Vatican Library), which is slightly older than the Codex Sinaiticus (preserved in the British Library), both of which were transcribed in the fourth century.

..".If anyone adds to These things, God will add to him the plegues of this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, form the Holy City, and from the things that are written in this book."

The New World Translation bible says in the beginning, something to this effect.....We have changed some of the scriptures to give a fuller context of the text....( I do not own a copy of this bible anymore so bear with me I am going form memory)

Should Jehovah's Witnesses be concerned that changing the Bible, will ultimately bring the wrath of God against them?
