I just saw someone mis-use his quote "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."

As much as god-believers would like to claim him as their own, Einstein was not a religious man. He often used words like "god" and "religion" metaphorically. What he meant by that quote is that we cannot use science to determine ethics and morality.

Einstein also said, "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."

Suppose you had a heart condition and a Witch prepared a brew which she told you would help your heart. Suppose the brew contained digitalis and it truly would help your heart. Would you drink it?

Suppose the Witch said some words of her own over the brew, simply asking the spirits to help your condition improve, and your preacher told you not to drink it because it was the devil's work. Would you drink it?

In my American History class we are learning about the Mormon churches. The FLDS headed by the Mormon Prophet, Warren Jeffs, was started by Joseph Smith in 1830. This is the most traditional of the Mormon churches, as through Prophet Jeffs they still hold onto the polygamy belief which was instituted by Prophet Smith not long ago in the 1830's. While the larger and more politically correct Mormon church is the LDS group which has gone through an overhaul not adhering to the beliefs of Jeffs and Smith.

The LDS group is headed by their corporate President, Gordon B. Hinckley. Mr. Hinckley has been working as an employee of LDS group since 1935 and was named President in 1995. Graduating from the University of Utah in 1932 he began his career with LDS as secretary of the Radio, Publicity and Mission Literature Committee. Prophet Jeffs became leader of the FLDS in 2002.

In preparation for my examination I would like to know how many Mormons belong to each group.

Why do some people rely on secondhand information concerning information about other faiths instead of going straight to the source and asking a person of THAT FAITH themselves?

Also, why do people, when they receive this secondhand information, use it against the faith, out of ignorance? Example....

1st person - "Oh, well I heard that you guys believe this! (yada yada yada)"

2nd person - "No, we don't believe that."

1st Person - ".......Yes you do."

I mean, it's laughable to me. Don't people realize that someone of a particular faith probably has just a teeny bit more knowledge concerning their OWN beliefs?

the events in England- the car bombs and the vehicle driven into the airport terminal on fire - when terrorists commit this nasty killing of innocent ppl - and they praize allah for the success of their action - do you then believe it would be also a religious rite for them , a religious act if you will???

we all know that not all ppl are alike and will not hurt others , should they not fight side by side with the british police and make a change so their children do not have to live with rejection from global society?

I want to see muslims turning in muslims for this stuff so no one gets hurt ever again! is that a statement that is not shared with the rest of the muslims and the world?
