Depends on who you ask. I say no one is perfect. And I don't believe God expects us to be perfect, but He does expect us to try... "Strive for perfection." Bad actions aren't ignored, everyone will pay for any and everything wrong they do, here and in eternity. Good actions are rewarding for everyone, believer and non-believer alike. I don't think any good action is worthless. One good action for anyone can mean the world to someone, at the right time, regardless of your religious beliefs.

Jesus is not a "story". He is the son of God who died on a cross for our sins. Only through repentence of our sins and belief in Him, will we be saved. No one is good. If you do good actions now and then, that will not, in the eyes of God, make up for sins you have committed. Only faith in Jesus Christ can wash us clean of our sins.
