..".If anyone adds to These things, God will add to him the plegues of this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, form the Holy City, and from the things that are written in this book."

The New World Translation bible says in the beginning, something to this effect.....We have changed some of the scriptures to give a fuller context of the text....( I do not own a copy of this bible anymore so bear with me I am going form memory)

Should Jehovah's Witnesses be concerned that changing the Bible, will ultimately bring the wrath of God against them?

I once spent many days in discussion with JW’S about their NWT bible and also their version of the Greek NT. In only a few places had they a word in Greek different from 99% of other translators. That was not so in their NWT in English. This is packed full of additional and altered words. All this enables them to present a different interpretation from the most of the Protestant translators. The word Jehovah does not exist in the original Greek. The OT word for God is YHWH (YaHWeH with 2 vowels added). It was reconstructed in the 1500's to its present form Jehova by using the German form - JHWH, and substituting V for H (which was not uncommon), and then adding more vowels.
God is not pleased by all this and their ultimate fate is guaranteed. Meanwhile, JW's are still quitting and finding the truth. The decisive difference between Christianity and JW’s is that they do not believe that Christ is God.

I do not see why so many attack The New World Translation. I have a copy of it and cross referenced it with many other translations.

And though some verses are not exactly as I would state them the NWT is well within standard translation. Far more accurate than the NIV. The NIV even skips verses and blatantly ignores Greek grammatical rules in other places.

The verses you ask about apply to all of the bible and particularly the The Revelation of Jesus Christ the last book of the Holy Scriptures.

The JWs have used certain words to clarify certain verses this is also done in other translations and versions particularly the Amplified Bible.

Each version or translation of the bible has positives and negatives but as far as I can tell the NWT is the least offending and also probably the first modern English version.

This maybe why it is attacked by other and main stream denominations. I see it as jealousy and of course now there is the very homogenized and pasteurized version the NIV.

I prefer the KJV and use a Strong's Concordance along with several commentaries.

anyone who changes the direct meaning or just adds anything they think it SHOULD say had better watch out...... some *religions* have other books besides the Bible they teach has the Word of God,I do not mean taking the Bible verses and putting them in smaller books, etc, I am talking about having a complete OTHER book that teaches what the Bible does not, such as saying that there was a PROPHET that wrote it, that is manely what this scripture is talking about...... translations can vary on certain words, because some Greek words have more than one meaning depending on the context.... Obviously,God was speaking to those who knowingly wrest scripture or add personal interpretation in an attempt to deceive those who unwittingly subscribe to their teaching.

My observation of the Jehovah's Witnesses,is that they are generally sincere in their convictions and do not intentionally wish to lead others astray,however, they have been deceived by the scholastically dishonest Greek and Hebrew scholars of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.....

Their understanding of the book of Revelation is far from their only worry...and is peripheral compared to their understanding of the person nature and works of Jesus Christ.

JWs have not made any changes to the original manuscripts so they have not changed the bible.

However, Trinitarians in the past have added to the bible and inserted forgery verses which would fall into what John had warned us about. (1 John 5:7-8 KJV)

It is not limited to JW, but YES, ANYONE who adds to or takes away from the Bible should be worried!

I don't think they see it that way. They think its the greatest translation out there. Far from it though.

You will note that all the places that refers to the deity of Jesus has "Jehovah" conveniently added. All through Revelation one, the glorified Jesus is talking, but all of a sudden in verse 8, Jehovah interrupts and says, "No, I'M the Alpha and the Omega, the Almighty!" Seems rather an odd interjection for convenience to me.

"New World Translation" certainly does NOT have anything like what this so-called "questioner" pretends.

Here are all three sentences from the bible's introduction which contain the word "context" or "contexts":

Ironically, despite the shameless and dishonest accusations of anti-Witnesses, NWT worked to translate from the original languages as literally as possible. Please note this actual quote from this bible's introduction (as opposed to a disgraceful pretension):

In defense of the JWs, I interpret that scripture to mean the Book of Revelation, not the Bible itself.... however, JWs HAVE added Jehovah's name to Revelation and it was not there.... even their favorite critic Jason BeDuhn said that.
