I don't think many gay people hate us Christians- my gay friends don't (obviously as they would not be my friends-duh) although they know my religious views which by the way do not include any personal judgments. I do not dispute them having been being born that way however cannot explain why it is still "wrong". They know I accept them and do not look down at them in an way. The Christians that do cast judgment and harbour an ill will towards homosexuals may leave a bad taste or a "hatred" among some. Lets face it, if a homosexual was honestly concerned about the religious stand point, they would not need us to quote scripture, as almost everyone has a Bible somewhere!

As for atheists, again I don't think it is a hate issue, but I believe from personal experience that many atheists think that they are intellectually superior to us Christians, as they are often under the misunderstanding we checked our brains at the door when we accepted Christ rather than just the opposite. I did much research, so to speak, prior to becoming a Christian to find facts that back up what I believe. I think that atheists are simply that way because in becoming a Christian you then have to conduct your life based on God's standards and not John's or Joe's standards (and everyone has their own personal set of standards - whose are we to use?) and God's standards may cramp their style. Especially if they are ignorant about Christian life and don't realize that it is generally not the restrictive Amish life for most of us. I can drink beer, I can dance (modestly), I can wear normal clothes, I can enjoy sex with my husband etc. and not feel bad. If I state my case as a Christian often that is NOT okay. In the past I have seemed to have to hear an atheist's view point often actually rudely bashing my religion. God forbid I am allowed to politely state my side afterwards.

I don't think it is a hatred for the most part, maybe just some misunderstandings between the different sides and some sides being a little too judgmental at times. Judge not that ye may be judged!

"Gays" don't hate "atheists and Christians" anymore than "Christians" hate any one group.
There may be some homosexual people who don't appreciate certain Christian people chastising them for things they believe they can't control.
I believe that Christians, atheists, gays, etc., all have different beliefs and no one group is righteous over the other.
Acceptance of others should be what's focused on instead of persecuting others for something you (in general) cannot control.
It's very ignorant to assume that gays, or anyone else for that matter, is at all interested in what you or the Scripture has to say. If they are Muslim or Jewish or any other religion, then they have a set of beliefs that they hold dear to themselves.
Having you try to "remind them of the Scripture" is not going to do anything to change their minds anymore than having them try to change your mind.
No one religion is the correct one-- because they all believe that theirs is-- so if everyone is right, then what does that mean?
It's as silly as saying that United States is the best and most perfect country in the world.
You're basically saying to the rest of the world that they're foolish for still living outside the US. They won't take that lightly and neither will gays being told that Scripture instructs them on certain things (that they may not believe in).

I'm all for human rights-- and that includes a belief in what they choose, not what others choose for them.

Why do you think Pilgrims came to the Americas? To get away from religious persecution-- exactly what many religions do to certain groups of people.
Hmmm....

Some gay people ARE Christians. And I don't think they or atheists hate you; they simply find the judgemental attitude expressed by some of you to be insulting and annoying. Frankly, so do I, and I'm not gay, nor am I an atheist. To many people, including myself, the scriptures are simply not an authority on how to live one's life. So I'm not sure why you would expect someone to thank you for essentially calling them a bad person and reciting to them scripture that they do not believe in and/or do not agree with.

I'm an atheist and I don't hate Christians - I just hate it when Christians preach to us and try to convert us instead of showing us respect for the choices we have made in our lives - such as taking the path of atheism - or of the lifestyles that others live, such as homosexuals.
We would be more thankful if we got shown a level of respect instead of being spoke down. Just because your a Christian doesn't make you right and rest of us wrong, and what makes you think your helping us out by telling us about the scriptures - I have read em and I don't see what's so good about em.

edit: if God created us, which he is apparently meant to have done - according to Christians anyway - why are there atheists? Wouldn't God have created us all Christians is he is the creator of the world and mankind?

I'm deff. not going to get a best answer for this but whatever.

It's not your decision to tell people the scripture. They have the right believe and read what they want, who are you to tell them the bible as if you're reading them their rights? Just step back and remember, if you're not being forced to marry another man or if you're a woman to marry another woman, then it has no affect on you what so ever. You're not going to hell, and neither are they for that matter, for their marriage. And not ALLLLL gays and atheists hate Christians, they just hate egotistical people like you who think they have to preach to the world before the second coming of Christ.

Atheists don't hate Christians, they simply regard them as uneducated (and in too many cases, uneducable). It does no more good to speak of scripture than of Winnie the Pooh -- and the latter is considerably more fun.

But who's reminding the Christians of the scriptures. Do as I say not as I do? That seems to be the current christian motto.

I don't hate Christians. I hate the way that you guys oppress your beliefs on the people that just want to be let alone, and sell your religion to people who don't get both sides of the story via missionaries, but I don't hate Christians. Once I get to know Christians personally, I can come to like them.

Like Christians, Athiests and Gay people have easy access to the Bible and can read the scriptures for themselves if they so desire. While you may be well intentioned, it is arrogant to say, "They should be thanking us.."-- Jesus helped a lot of people in the Bible and I don't remember Him ever saying, "You should be thanking me."

Hello, obviously gays don't like Christians b/c they are not excepted there. That's like saying 'why do black ppl hate whites' back in the 60s. And atheists only hate christians, not for their beliefs, but b/c they are all pinheads. They think that they are right and are not open to new ideas.
