My wife and I were talking about this last night. Anyone ever heard that the devil was the angel of music or words to that effect.

We've both heard people say that but I couldn't remember any scriptures that said that.

Does anyone know where that came from?

Thanks...

Honestly, I am not sure. I believe that the man Jesus lived and he was a great teacher. So it you add the gnostic gospels and throw out Paul, I might accept some of the bible.

I am afraid I could never accept the gay bashing though. I am one of those that thinks it is none of your business who sleeps with whom. We are born with our sexuality it is not a choice.

I would have a problem with my way is the only way. Now I know that most Christians believe that is not true, so I'll give you that one.

If you believe in a God, what is it that bothers you?

I'm not talking about extinct animals, or buried cities. I'm talking about things that we know exist in the here and now.

Ask yourself this very simple question... is there ANYTHING that we KNOW for CERTAIN which we do not have some sort of empirical evidence for? The answer is NO. Everything that we KNOW exists, we have a way of verifying. Gravity, atoms, clouds, tomatoes, bulldogs... all these things can be proposed and verified through testable, demonstrable methods.

On the other hand, all the things that we DO NOT know for CERTAIN exist - astrology, ghosts, ESP, alien abductions, bigfoot, GODS - we have no evidence of. In fact, our attempts to verify their existence always fail, or worse, indicate that they DO NOT exist. Therefore;

Things we know exist = we have evidence of.
Things we do not know exist = we have no evidence of.

By following this simple proof it is clearly impossible to make the claim that we KNOW a god exists. The best we can say is we hope a god exists.

“Judge not, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven”
Luke 6:37
How do you interpret this since we are practically judging all the time, what are we missing out on?

You cannot prove that the FSM doesn't exist! That means that he must be real! Why can't you believe? Isn't that the only explanation of how we got here?

Is the real question: Why do catholics worship mary or why don't non-catholics acknowledge Mary as most blessed?

"the bible says" (it is written) Mary is most blessed and ALL generations are called to acknowledge this fact in their Christian faith community not simply relegate Mary to some sideshow or closet. Why do non-catholics disrepect and denigrate Mary as they lash out at Catholics with slander on making her God.

For a long time it has confused me how most Christians fail to even slightly recognize that Christianity might contentious, no matter how earnestly and sincere and competently you explain it.

Thinking about my experiences here on the R/S section, I believe that there are notable sociological reasons why this is so.
You have to consider the Christian demographic on the R/S section.
Most Americans believe in god, but for the most part most do not concern themselves with the bible or church too much.
The Christians who mostly are on this section are most likely the ones who do take it more seriously, they are people who most likely go to church, and are basically surrounded by a church or general Christian environment.
These are the people, who, from the start, have a stronger determination to declare that the questioning of Christianity is spiteful towards god,
or that all the arguments are wrong and that it is more logical and rational to believe in god than to be an atheist.
