If I understand him this is a paraphrase of the 'proof' CS Lewis offered for God's existence. Any correction or elaboration welcome.

Humans assume their thoughts have 'meaning'; there are only two options concerning meaning:

1) If there is no God the universe is an accident and therefore meaningless. If it started out meaningless it remains meaningless as meaning can't evolve or derive from non-meaning.

2) God created the universe and therefore there is some ultimate foundational meaning of which our human meaning (or reason) is subsidiary.

No one can argue against meaning because their arguing assumes meaning.

Therefore, God exists.

I'm no logician: assuming I've fairly stated his position, does this 'prove' God exists? Why or why not?

These are counter arguments for the most commonly heard arguments against gay marriage.

"it's a sin." "God condemns gays." "the bible says its wrong.": By far the most common one and in response I have a simple phrase "seperation of church and state". This means that laws cannot be made on the basis of religious doctrine, this includes the bible.

"it's not natural": Second most common. If that's the case then should we outlaw cell phones? Those aren't natural. What about books, computers, cars... those aren't natural. Should they be outlawed too. Plus scientists have actually found members of many different animal species who are homosexual. And there is a lizard species comprized entirely of females. In order for them to reproduce they have, yep, gay sex. Are these lizards "unnatural?"

"it would destroy the sanctity of marriage." 50% of marriages in this country already end in divorce. Not much "sanctity" there is there. Plus if the two love eachother how could it

Why is it that when I go to questions that ask the simplest theological questions I find that most people don't know what they are talking about? I just heard someone say that all good people go to heaven and all bad people go to hell no matter what religion they believe in. Are they people who only hope that certain things about the Bible are true? Are they not Christians who pervert the scriptures to fit what they think about life? It makes me mad sometimes. Just read the Bible and find out what it says. Serious answers only.

For the past couple of months, I have found myself questioning my belief in God. I do not believe that he is not real, but I can't get myself to accept that he is. Is there a name for people who are not sure if God really does exist. And I don't want atheism, because I do not yet think that is true either.

Now i'm a christian, but sometimes I find it interesting to think as an atheist. To think maybe their is no god and I mainly think about what it is like when you die. If you thought like an atheist would this mean there is shear nothingness and that u never think again and ur whole soul just poofs away. What are ur thoughts on what atheists think?

Every day, I hear someone saying that religion is the cause of all the world's problems. People go to war, they say, because of religion.
It is my contention that people go to war over their own greed. A "holy war" is pretty much a war over which group gets the booty, hasn't it always been that way?
Seriously, honestly, think about it...is "religion" evil...or is it really that men are inherently selfish and greedy?

I mean, all the good people, even if they are a different religion
Because, since God is so good, shouldn't he let all good people go to Heaven, even if they believe something else...?

I am an atheist and they keep accusing me of rejectiong God. How can I reject that which I do not believe? I'm not rejectiong God any more than you Christians are rejecting Allah. I simply just don't believe in him. Rejecting God would me seeing God with my own 2 eyes and telling him to screw off. I'm not doing that.

No I don't think he would. He has a gift from God and he uses it to give people comfort.
So why do people with God given gifts hide them and sit on the fence? How many people have seen their loved ones in dreams, and do you believe they are demons. I have seen my father in a dream and he showed me a baby boy, and he spoke to me the next day my sister in America had the little boy.I don't think my father was a demon, he even told me his eyesight was perfect now.
