Why is it that when I go to questions that ask the simplest theological questions I find that most people don't know what they are talking about? I just heard someone say that all good people go to heaven and all bad people go to hell no matter what religion they believe in. Are they people who only hope that certain things about the Bible are true? Are they not Christians who pervert the scriptures to fit what they think about life? It makes me mad sometimes. Just read the Bible and find out what it says. Serious answers only.

First He said that his sheep will know his voice. John 10 clearly says that those whom He is returning for will know and love Him this combined with scriptures as a whole makes them Christians.
Second, we were all born into sin so we were all born lost. Christ came for all of us.
Third, Yes we should respect other religions but we should not stumble over the fact that others do not think like us. We should show them Respectfully the errors of their ways.
What I see makes me believe even more that the end of the earth is drawing near and I hope to take as many with me when we are caught up in the air.

First off I love ya. I absolutely love debating the scriptures with people and when people back up what they believe with scripture and then give their interpretation it is a good thing. But while you claim I have added to the scripture you have not quoted fully the scripture which I feel can be even worse. You have said "we fall short of the glory of God" yes we have but the first part of that verse says "For ALL have sinned..." We being clothed in flesh are sinners and we have been born into sin. We when we are born do not understand the concept of God. When we mature we have to make a choice, either we choose life or death. Until we choose the life God gives us we are in the darkness and lost.
Christ has commissioned us to go and preach the Gospel and I feel that we should tell people the truth whether they accept it or not because it is our responsibility.

Mark 16:15-16 says, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."

Wow, such varied answers. Let me see if I can bring some light.
If I understand your question, it is "Why do most people not know what they are talking about when you ask them a Theological question". The answer is perhaps best illustrated by asking you the question: How well could these people answer a question on quantum physics?
Only a person who studies (not reads) the Scriptures should answer you when you ask a Theological question. Unfortunately, we all have pride that gets in the way. No believer wants you to know that the real answer to your Theological question is: "I don't know". They want to answer you with the best reasoning and knowledge that they have. But their lack of knowledge is evident when out of their mouth comes the junk that you have heard.
A lot of scriptures have been quoted for you but no one has quoted one that truly applies: Matt. 12:34 "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.".
If those who had answered you had the living Word abiding in their heart, truth would have come out. Unfortunately for you, they did not and no truth was learned. You should not listen to them nor ask them for more answers. And if they inquire into why you stopped listening to them, ask them about their Bible study habits.
So, if you are seeking to know and understand God's word, ask the author for insight when you read. Only He knows the Word. We are all receiving our knowledge from Him.
Then read, re-read, re-read again, and then meditate on small passages of scripture. Single verses perhaps. Something you can get your hands around. Then ask God for understanding. And use reference materials for some guidance. Learn to use Greek and Hebrew references. Learn about Strong, Vine, Nave, Wigram, and Zodiates references. Watch using commentaries since they are interpretations written by others.
Find someone close to you that really studies the Scriptures. Then see if you can study with them.

If you read the Bible entirely, it is often easier to know the truth. Unluckily, there are many people who have only read parts of it and base a conclusion on that.
It is not true that that all good people go to heaven and all bad people go to hell no matter what religion they believe in.
ONE thing is certain: those who truly accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will SURELY go to heaven.
Maybe others will also, but I can't guarantee them.
Better not take risks: that's why I listen to Jesus great commission (Mat 28:19) and tell others about Him.
Also check John 20:21
Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you."
It is quite normal to do good, so that message doesn't have to be spread. What message does? That Jesus is the Truth, the Way and the Life, and that no-one will come to the Father except through Him. (John 14:6)
I pray that people will read the whole Bible, and will eagerly look for the truth. Then the Truth will be revealed, and a real relationship will start.

I hazard to guess that a great majority of people don't read their Bibles. "Religion" is mostly heresay to them. It sounds good at the time so they believe it. I find "daily life" in the Bible. If I have a question, the answer is surely in there. When I was little, I thought all dogs were male and all cats were female. When I confessed this crazy notion to my own two sons (now 15 and 22), they both thought the same thing when they were little. Ignorance gets us no where, but learning the truth about things is such a positive step. You will find more and more, as we journey nearer the end times, that people will absolutely refuse to read their Bibles and simply follow the crowd. That pretty much seals their fate. In a world where constant chatter and media become friend to millions, people have less time (or desire) to open a book and read anything, much less the Holy Word. You just need to pray that these people will cease to decieve others in acting so ignorant and begin a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior.

Greetings!
Yes you are absoluteley right, that yes there are Christians out there who twist scriptures to fit their agendas and of course most importantly hide their sins. In other words most people do not want to get too close to the light otherwise their sins become very obvious. People have been born in sin and they are wicked and they like the darkness. There is no friendship between light and darkness. It is only his chosen servant that knows the sound of his voice and will truly follow him. This is why he says you must give up everything you have to be my disciple. It's all about loyalties as well, if you want to be a true christian you put God first and not yourself. There are many who go through the motions and throw a few bucks in the basket in church on Sunday and they think that this is being christian. Or my personal favorite that all religions lead to heaven. Which is an absolute lie! If someone is really a Christian he will see the world for what it is in all of it's wickedness and hate it. That person will dislike anyone who is not with God, this of course includes family etc.. I hope this answers your question because if someone is seriously comitted to God then he seeks only the Glory of God and to please God. He is not afraid of the face of man nor does he bow before any other Gods.

When you refer to 'religion'. I think you are talking about sects. If that is what you mean, the answer is 'yes'. Some denominations do not believe the Bible, as a whole, is interpreted correctly. Interpretation is personal and subjective. There are thousands of different Christian denominations and they all have different doctrines. The person that said, 'all good people go to heaven and all bad people go to hell', must believe that heaven is not reserved for Christians only. This would be a more liberal view than a conservative Christian has. If you believe in the Bible,
verbatim, you believe it is an abomination to judge other people ; it is allowable to only judge ourselves. There are many translations of the Bible, and with each new translation there are changes. You get angry with people, perhaps, because you are passionate about the topic. Passion is good. It will give your life meaning and purpose.

The truth of the matter is that we ( here in the US) live in a climate of almost total Bible ignorance. A large percentage of young people do not go to sunday school or to church. We took prayer out of schools, we took bible reading out of schools. Even worse : serious discussion about bible doctrine is unheard of in most churches! This is the result: A generation who think that Noah's ark and the ark of the covenant are the same thing. A generation who don't know the difference between the Gospel of John and the "Gospel of Judas". A generation who swallows hook, line and sinker a fairy tale like the Da Vinci Code.
Get mad. Someone has to.
god bless

Alex, 1st of all, God is Love. Yes, God does believe in terminating the lives of unrepentant, wicked sinners, but he is not some depraved torcherer as some religions would have you to believe. The belief of Hell being an eternal burning damnation was started accidentially by a real place called Gehenna (or Hades), a city dump where the people threw dead bodies and anything else they didnt want, sulpher was continually added to keep fire constantly burning there, and it was kept so hot that many workers lost their lives doing so. God gave us all the gift of life. If we choose to be unrepentant, he will simply take this gift away. People now days, though, are dying due to inherited "Adamic sin". This is what Jesus' sacrifice covers and sins will not be held against anyone who repents. In the future, God is going to remove sickness, aging, hunger, crime, and death (man's greatest enemy) and even the devil, by throwing them into hell-or completely destroying them all, as if by fire. Fire represents complete destruction. Hence, death is said also to be thrown into Hell, because in the future, all remaining righteous ones will die no more. By acting on faith and repenting of sin, mankind can
gain the gift of God's favor now, and everlasting life in the future that he has in store for all of mankind. PS, all scripture is inspired of God, and must therefore not contradict itself.
If it ever seems to, we must then conclude that our translation, understanding or interpretation is in error, not God's word.
You shouldn't be angry at the people, they have been lied to by the masses by false religions who promote known falsehoods and teach traditions over facts because it suits them.

"What I see makes me believe even more that the end of the earth is drawing near and I hope to take as many with me when we are caught up in the air."
First i had to respond to this false doctrine that is throughout most of the Christian Churches today. They are waiting for God to attack the earth, but before he attacks the earth he is going to remove his believers out and park them in the sky! Then when he is done roasting the non believers on earth he will bring everyone back and tell them how much he loved them, are you ready to accept me sorry about the burning flesh and starvation and death you had to endure. Follow me I love you, by the way I am sorry about the "Faith is a gift thing" I am the one that gives you the faith so if I didn't give it then you would believe and so I had to teach you a lesson by buring your flesh a little bit and seeing your children die. Oh by the way if you don't follow me you will remain in your flesh bodies and burn in fire in hell while my children are relaxing in heaven able to hear your screams!
Thank God Almighty my Father is not this monster that is being taught in the churches! There is not rapture because it is a spiritual attack with satan leading the way, your flesh will not be hurt in anyway but your souls will perish in the lake of fire and be killed as it is written!

You can't be sure of the backgrounds of the people you ask. Some profess that they're Christians but they don't grow in prayer and studying the Bible. Some just don't know what they're talking about. I'm sorry, but all good people don't go to heaven and all bad people don't go to hell. You will be shocked at the bad people who will be in heaven and the "good" people who will be in hell. And yes, people do twist the bible and take things out of context to fit their agenda. You have to know all the verses to get the whole picture. The simplicity of it is accept Christ and love others as yourself.

It has to do with the assaults of post-modernist thinking on today's culture. Not too long ago people had a rationalist mindset where two opposing views could not both be true. Now thanks to the inroads of the father of lies people are being taught that the only absolute truth is that there is no "absolute" truth. What might be true for one person is not necessarily true for another person. :o(
Don't get mad, pray for the Holy Spirit to bring conviction and revelation of God's truth upon those blinded by the god of this world.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
2 Corinthians 4:3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
