Read the Bible every day. Pray, pray, pray. Associate yourself with mature Christians. Join an established Bible study group that actually studies the Bible, not just gets together to express their opinions. Attend church regularly where the minister preaches that Jesus is the only Way to salvation. Live your life to reflect Jesus. Listen to inspirational music that brings praise to God.

How do you let Him in? Just ask. Confess to God that you are lost. Romans 10:9 and 10 say, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." It is a free gift, all you have to do is accept it.
"For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8 and 9). It is by faith that you know you are saved. Sometimes you may not FEEL saved, but if you truly asked Jesus into your heart, he saved you. Accept it by faith.
God bless.

Interesting question. If you are truly interested, you already have completed the first step. Acknowledging that there is a God. It is God who calls us, not the other way around. When he does, we make the choice to believe or not. The order is Believe and then Repent.

Start by reading the book of John - several times. Especially where Jesus speaks. It's loaded.

Pray - a lot. I found that when I started praying with a few other people who really knew how to pray, that my growth exploded. Praying by myself didn't do nearly as much. For one, I really didn't know how to pray. I can say for sure that was a tremendous help to me. Praying will be the single most important thing you can do. You will actually feel the power of the Holy Spirit build in you. Then you will have no doubt.

Do not get caught up in all the different philosophies and doctrines. It's a waste of time. Later, when you're stable then perhaps you can waste a little time doing that. Kind of nice to know where others are coming from.

You want some good practical messages that are on-line or pod-casts - go to Chip Ingrams website. lote.org (I think) I really like his preaching.

I think that each Christian struggles to a certain extent over this particular question. How do I get close to God and be more Christ like. I believe preachers, missionarys, teachers, all alike have these problems, just like us. One way I have realized that helps is to pray everyday. It is so much better on your knees then in your bed. I also keep a journal that is to God in a way- its a devotional jouranl- i just use it as my diary. I alos have a 5 minute a day devotional book that has really helped me. Being around other believers is so good to. It helps if your best friend is a Christian , as well, as your boy friend of husband. We as women need to be modest because if we do what God wants us to do, I believe that will bring us closer as well. I try to sing christian songs when I am down. I sometimes do have my days that I don't care- but , I really do. I just couldn't tell at that moment, but, you have to look to God to lift you up. The more you rely on him the closer he is. People often say when are closer to God when we look to him for all of our answers through life, which I really do believe. I also believe that we should praise God when we win or when we lose. We also need to pursue HIS PURPOSE in ALL that WE DO!!! I hope this helped.God bless

shenna: I like your sincerity. As a Christian, I can tell you that there is "none good but God" because He is Holy. Life in the humanistic sphere is one of both, opportunity and choice. For Christians, this means we either, decide to grow and develop in a spiritual relationship with God, the Father, through Jesus Christ or we become "religious" and serve the "dos & don'ts" of legalism (the Law of Moses). Since Christians walk in the grace of Jesus Christ, we are no longer "under the Law". Because we are under grace, we practice "goods works" towards others; thus, fulfilling the SPIRITUAL LAW of Loving God & loving our neighbour. We all sin - daily but we try not to - knowing full well that we are forgiven for our weakness because we have a spiritual relationship with the Father, through Christ. We are to "grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ" and this is accomplished by daily communication in prayer, Bible Study & occassional fasting. Be seen and not heard (unless asked) ! A good Bible Study site to find numerous FREE copies of the many Bibles available is www.biblegateway.com I admire the zeal you have and all the very best in your spiritual relationship with God. Grace to you !!!

P.S. A good rule of thumb is: More Jesus - Less Religion !!!

"Good?" Literally? It's easy. Join a local Christian church, study and learn all you can. But DON'T EVER knock on a single door to tell the occupants that they're screwed up or damned should they not happen to be Christians. DON'T EVER sit around pitying others from other religions--because the moment you do, you think you're better than anyone else... and we have enough of those kind of Christians already. Do not invade the process of law making. And think twice before littering property with that pamphlet or sending that Email: Chances are, you're annoying that person--not inspiring them.

That at least should get you started.

Our map to please God is in the fruits of the spirit. Joy, Peace, patience, kindness, goodness, self control and LOVE.

We should be seekers of peace. We need to do all these things in Love for it binds it all together. Look to God for a good Christian approval and not to please others just for acceptance. We are sometimes to take the hard road to please God and not Man , for we are to testify to what is Godly and not worldly.

1)christians don't hate people
2) a good christian goes to church every sunday, believes in the father the sun and the holy spirit, confesses their faith to god, gives offerings to the church, and is proud to believe.

also, even though I am not catholic, when you become a member of the church, you have to say that you believe in the holy catholic church.

You don't become a good Christian, you *be* a good Christian. Act with a true intent of compassion, kindness, and forgiveness and I suspect you would be a model Christian. Don't act to correct someone because they are wrong, act to correct someone so that they, and others, suffer less for it. ^_^
