do you beleive that jesus wanted us to follow our heart and learnings to do what we think is correct. or did he want us to follow every word of the bible like mindless zombies. i have been wondering this for years. i go to a catholic school and still can not seem to figure this one out. because the way i see it is that he gave us all differences so we could be unique and beautiful in our own way, not so we can all strive to be the same.

what is your opinion?

should someone be forced into a marriage because their parents arranged it? Shouldn't everyone have the chance to find the one they want to marry because they want to...not because they have to?

If your mother was not married to your father back in the time that the OT was all taken seriously, you could not get into heaven. Original sin perhaps? But how is that fair? A child cannot help his parents unmarried state...shouldn't it have been the parents, not the child who got the short end of the stick?

Before i even ask this question, i am not looking for answers from those who want to make some stupid comment. I am all serious here. I was at a church for a long time (well over 10 years). The people where great and i loved the fact that we felt like one big family. Well one day i went to see the pastor about a problem i was having. i really trusted what we talked about would be just between the two of us. well the next day he stood up in front of the whole church and "when you sin..this is what happens to you "and he told my story, but did not use my name. still i knew who he was talking about and that really did hurt me. than a few people in the church began to gossip about it. Thats when i knew i had to leave. I really want to got to a new church, but i am not so trusting anymore and am afraid to get hurt by another christian like that again. should i just not go anymore or should i just try a new church? thanks!

what do you think of that ancient rule, regardless of it applying today today (since it most assuredly does not...)

How was that fair? I mean we know in the Bible, adultery is all wrong and you should only have sex with your husband...but the choice is completely taken out of your hand. Why was it fair to punish the woman just because her innocence was stolen?

I read a very dreadful book recently where the plot was that Tiberius faked Jesus's ressurection to create Christianity because he planned on using this faith to consolidate support and keep a crumbling Empire together.

Leaving all the faking and conspiracy aside, isn't that what ended up happening in a way. European history was certainly guided, if not ruled, by the Catholic Church for a thousand years after Romes fall. It was still, and is still, centered in Rome and weilded vast power over essentially the same geographic area.

Just thoughts on this.

I see people asking about the christian religion why can't there questions about other religions? I'm not being a racist or anything like that because I'm a christian too but I'm so sick of seeing people asking about the same religion why can't there be questions about different religions.

Muslims, what will the mosque authorities do, if a visiting 'muslim' from overseas, brings along a pail of swine blood and dog stool and 'accidentally' spills the entire contents onto your prayer stand, qur'ans and all over the floor?

Will the mosque authorities consider it an accident, forgive and forget and continue with their prayers in the desecrated mosque? Or will there be a jihad in the mosque?

For example, I like broccoli, when I was a kid, I didn't. Why do people think that what God said way back a long time ago should still apply? As time goes on, maybe he changes his mind. Everybody always says he is all knowing and the teachings are the same now as they were then. But ALL religions change as society changes, but try to explain it AROUND god by saying God didn't change, society and needs did.
