I read questions written by the religious and by atheists where the writer hammers and insults someone's (sometimes absurd) beliefs. It may be done in a funny way and I laugh. But often, it's mean-spirited. So I cringe. Yes, I find the views of believers hard to understand and I feel good if they open their eyes to truth. But how does mocking them change minds? It just hardens views and stirs up hatred. I saw Al talking on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SabcvBDtSE0 and he sounds so logical and soft spoken and caring, I wondered why more atheists don't emulate his approach? You may notice the absense of Christian responses to his carefully articulated points. Admittedly, it doesn't hurt that he's awesomely cute and has displaced Vanity Fair's June cover of Bruce Willis as my current fav vision.

I was browsing through the Parenting section on Yahoo answers and ran across a simple, kind of stupid, question. It was "what would you do if your kid was gay?".

Of course there were alot or responses and every one of them was positive. Things like "I would love them either way" "It's not their choice they are who they are and I support them 100%".

Then the one Christian chimed up. Ok, I don't KNOW that it was the only Christian but she was the only one that volunteered that information in her post like it was supposed to mean something important. Here is her response

" I don't look at it that way. I think it's a choice, so I would do everything I could to lead them in the right direction. That's why we are Christians involved in our church youth programs and so on.

I could never disown my child but I really don't know what I'd do if once they were grown (21 or older) and chose to live that lifestyle. I pray to God that it doesn't happen!"

Ive always thought that atheists are clever people because they dont blindly follow their parents or anyone else. But my question is if you think there is no God.. how did the universe come into existence( i know well about the big bang theroy and the Quran talks about it as well) but the big bang theory suggests it came out of nowhere basically the collision of dust particles... if your saying that explosion created the universe, then how can anyone believe that.. because explosions are knowns to DESTROY things and not create. And another thing is how can DNA and RNA come into existence at the same time? How did the first ancestor actually come out of.. as the theory suggests life came out of a non living thing (ABIOGENESIS)... how is that logically possible??? Please no stupid answers. So the stupid ones stay out

I finally decided to take a step and went to a biology class. And I was interested but still skeptical. So I took 5 more classes. And now I understand what you guys are talking about when you say creationism is a bunch of bs. I see it now. Science is not a democratic process and all the arguments that I used to use like....where r the transitional fossils for say...the horse? All of these evidences were there all along. I just had to open my eyes. I would like to thank God that he showed me the true path....and may God, the Holy Spirit bless the rest of the creationist to finally see what the one and only truth.

Now it seems to me that I’m the only one that made the cross over. So are there any Creationists out there like me who made the effort to learn about evolution?

can be taken by itself, out of context, and be used for an arguement? You have to use the entire Bible to learn the answers. Isolated and seperate verses lose meaning unless incorporated into the whole text. That is why it is important to read and study the Bible every day.

The bible apparently defines sin as a "transgression of God’s law". So, in order to forgive us for transgressing his laws, God had to send his son to earth for people to kill him so he could bring his son back to life and forgive our sins? Couldn’t God have just forgiven us directly without bringing his son into the whole agrument?

If someone "transgressed" against me, I might or might not forgive them, but I would not think having them kill my daughter so I can bring her back to life would be part of the equation.

A colony of sugar ants has recently made a new home in my kitchen and the are constantly enjoying themselves on my counter, and contributing to my suffering because I would like them to take their little Sangha and go live happily elsewhere and I do not want to kill them. How might I convince them to leave?

Humor is understood, expected and appreciated, but I would like some serious opinions as well.

Peace.

Heber C. Kimball

Some quietly listen to those who speak against the Lord's servants, against his anointed, against the plurality of wives, and against almost every principle that God has revealed. Such persons have half-a-dozen devils with them all the time. You might as well deny "Mormonism," and turn away from it, as to oppose the plurality of wives. Let the Presidency of this Church, and the Twelve Apostles, and all the authorities unite and say with one voice that they will oppose that doctrine, and the whole of them would be damned.

The night before Bundy was executed, he gave a television interview to James Dobson, head of the evangelical Christian organization Focus on the Family. During the interview, Bundy made repeated claims as to the pornographic "roots" of his sexually driven violence. He stated that, while pornography didn't cause him to commit his crimes, the consumption of violent pornography helped "shape and mold" his violence into "behavior too terrible to describe." He alleged that he felt that violence in the media, "particularly sexualized violence," sent boys "down the road to being Ted Bundys". After the interview was made public, many who knew Bundy as a sociopath had their doubts as to the validity of his "the pornography made me do it" claims. In the same interview, hours before his execution, Bundy stated:[2]

"You are going to kill me, and that will protect society from me. But out there are many, many more people who are addicted to pornography, and you are doing nothing about that."
