It doesn’t sound to me like Jesus went willingly to the cross.

Wouldn't you have died willingly on the cross?

Consider the choice Jesus was presented with:

1.) Live another 10, maybe 20 years (considering the average lifespan during that time) as a carpenter, living in a Bronze Age backwater; or

2.) Following his father's plan, and RULING, in PARADISE, forEVER?

Where's the sacrifice? Where's the great personal loss that makes something a sacrifice?

The story of the crucifixion only works as a noble act if this life is the only one we get; but Jesus is so quick to follow through with it precisely BECAUSE he knows this life is just "a dream of a dream in the eyes of heaven"....

Besides which: it was within Joe Hovah to simply forgive and forget man's sins. Why would he need to make a sacrifice at all?

Although tiracs is probably right, I will take the bait and attempt (allegedly) to answer the question(s).

The "(alleged)" is throwing me a curve. Are you trying to imply that he didn't die for future sins? I believe he did. Or are ou implying that he wasn't the Son of God and didn't die for any sins? In other words, I dont believe the alleged should be there, but on to the meat of your question.

Did Jesus WANT to die on a cross? No I dont think he did. Remember that he asked that the "cup" be taken from him. I believe that the "cup" was not death by crucifixtion, but separation (see below). He also said in that same breath "Not my will but Yours be done." He was following His Father's will, not his own. He willingly followed his Father's plan, but I'm sure Jesus would have wanted to take a less painful path.

"Why hast thou forsaken me?" Jesus muttered these words in response to taking on all the sin of the world. He was the "sacrificial Lamb" of the Old Testament. When the sin of the world (past, present, and future) as placed on his shoulders, God had to break fellowship with him. Jesus who had never sinned and had never been separated from God and had never felt that loneliness that is felt when sin separates a human from fellowship with God, felt that separation and can commeserate with humans who are going through similar trials of separation. That is the "cup" that I believe caused Jesus to stress out and sweat great drops of blood.

Understand the Trinity. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Ghost. Jesus , the Father, the Holy Spirit are three seperate persons and yet one in essence. Jesus had never been seperated from the Father until the cross. All throughout God's Word we read and hear how the Father is completely and perfectly holy. He detests sin!! So much in fact that He had to send His son as a pure sacrifice for all mankind who was corrupt and drowning in sin. This is clear to me how much God loves mankind and so wants to have a relationship with us that He makes a way, Jesus, so that we can come into His presence. When Jesus was on the cross and cried out to His Father it shows that as Jesus was covered in our sins God could not look upon His son because God can NOT look upon sin. That's why we have to constantly make wise choices and when we fall, seek forgiveness immediately and get right with the Lord.

When Jews cite scripture locations, they did not use the numbering system we had today for the Bible. They instead used the first phrase of a verse to indicate what chapter they wanted to teach from. So, let's look at what Christ said:

Matthew 27: 46
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Now, let's compare that to Psalms 22: 1
1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

What was the Great Teacher trying to teach moments from his own death? As we read Psalms 22, we can see that he was trying to teach that the prophecies of his own death were becoming true, from the insults heaped upon him as he hung on the cross to the people dividing his clothing. He was trying to teach that he had to fulfill all those promises he and his father, God, made to all of humanity.

And yes, like all other human beings, he did feel some dread at facing death. But unlike us, he also inherited from his immortal and eternal father, God, the ability to come back to life. This duality he possesses, the human traits from an earthly mom, and the godly traits from God the Father, allows Christ to be the ultimate advocate between mortals and the divine.

As for his death, he allowed his own spirit to leave his own mortal body, without using any means of violence or poison or some other tool. How exactly he did it, I'm not sure of. But since he has the power to bring his same spirit back into its original body again, which he did do, and give it eternal life, then in that sense, dying for him was not a permanent obstacle, but still a rough experience nonetheless.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Christ was fully aware of what needed to happen before the earth was created. So this death by crucifixion was not quite a surprise to him.

I hope this gives you some new insight on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It's an important topic worthy of study, meditation, and prayer. It's also like an onion, but not in an ogre-Shrek way.

Thanks,
Alvin R.

Hi Sara, Jesus was killed by the Romans after the Jews got disappointed that he didn't rise up and smite the Romans out of their lands with a small army, like they were expecting their "messiah" to. God doesn't exist, the bible is a bunch of fairytales seasoned with a sprinkle or two of historical information. Sins are an archaic term for crimes. But I'm pretty sure you knew that already.

Jesus showed his human side to us.
He was in so much pain waiting to die.
Remember, Jesus is god, he is part of the trinity.
Three parts of god:
The father
The son
The holy spirit.
The holy spirit is gods spirit, it is not a separate entity.
God came down as a man to emulate us.
So that we cannot say god does not understand us, since he went through it too.
I know, you are saying, how can god kill himself on a cross.
That is another question.
We are told that Jesus sits at his fathers right side in heaven.
So, they are separate, but not the holy spirit.
God cast down his spirit to give us peace in times of chaos.
I digressed to much.
God Bless

He didn't say, "Father, why hast thou forsaken me?"

He said, "My God, my God. Why hast thou forsaken me?"

It's important to remember that Jesus was VERY man and VERY God.

After 3 hours on the cross, the MAN had a moment of weakness. How shocking for him to be human for a moment, huh?

Yes, he died for our sins, luckily for all those who doubt it.

That is an excessively well query with a useful ample reply...He didn't say that!!! How would he have in mild of who he used to be? It makes now not feel. That is solely one of the most many fabrications within the bible. I'm now not announcing that the complete bible is a fabrication (nope that's now not what I'm announcing in any respect!) simply the ingredients that evidently contradict every different and contradict the very nature of GOD. As to the accuracy of relaxation of the bible am now not definite approximately so i are not able to say. Any wise, lettered character who has learn the complete bible with an open brain can see this. Throw out the rubbish the priests spoon feed you. Use the mind God gave u. The logical end jumps out at you. It's fairly now not that difficult to look. Just believe approximately it for a couple of (sorry... turns out u have given it a few suggestion otherwise you could now not have published this query). Here is a MAN (trace! born from the womb of a lady. Felt the needs of his frame to consume, sleep, use the bathroom, and so on. ) selected via GOD (the equal God to whom he fell on his face along with his brow to the bottom in worship) to advisor the "misplaced sheep of Israel" to the direction from which they'd strayed. He greater than any individual could recognize higher and to invite GOD this kind of query! That query is a assertion of disbelief, as you might have safely concluded. I consider in Jesus Christ the MESSENGER of THE ONE GOD (none of that trinity stuff. It isn't within the bible. The side that mentioned "For there are 3 who undergo witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and those 3 are one " this has been thrown out of the KJV Revised English Version as a fabrication, so u would possibly not uncover it there to any extent further. I have not begun to encounter a clergyman, clergyman or a church professional who's capable to articulate that THEORY to me...'purpose no wherein within the bible did Jesus say I am God worship me. It does now not make feel for him to omit to say some thing that essential). There is an excessive amount of conjecture surrounding special ingredients of the bible. One of them is Jesus' intended 'loss of life at the move,... permit's depart that one for one more time. But to get again for your query...NO! Jesus used to be now not an atheist. I recommendation you to learn the bible once more cautiously. This time pay concentration to the matters that stand out as simply airplane ridicules and nonsensical, like prophets having sex with their daughters or killing womens' husbands in order that they would sleep with their better halves. While studying hold in brain that those are the great amongst all mankind, CHOSEN BY THE ONE TRUE GOD as leaders and examples for all people. That makes NO feel. As you reread the bible with this in brain, TONS extra questions will arise. To take delivery of the bible's testomony of those features of the prophets' lives is to mention that God is wrong. God, the writer, the sustainer who demands no sustenance, the knower and seer of all is wrong in some way that he could deliver us prophets who dedicate such sins to comply with as examples, examples. NO WAY MAN!!! Jesus isn't any an atheist for the reason that be could under no circumstances say a factor like that. ***Don't permit others do your considering four u. Questions result in, doubt, readability, know-how, confirmation, religion, competencies, and a complete bunch of alternative essential stuff. ***

When Jesus went to the cross, it was for all of us. Jesus understood how we, as people, could suffer and sin because we were not Perfect like He was. When he uttered those words, it was US, saying them thru Him, not Him saying them.

Jesus died for your sins (of that generation and ours). Remember, God is all knowing. He knew what sins you would commit before you were born... but God's a gentlemen. He's gonna let YOU CHOOSE right from wrong.
We all know or have access to His Word to know those differences.
