I have noticed there seem to be a lot of people who think they know what Scientology is, but they seem to miss the mark.

I have like several others in Yahoo Q&A read about, understood and applied Scientology to my life.

I'm asking everyone, not just one specific group. Do you come here cause you're bored? Do you come here to inspire people? Do you come here because you want to make people mad? So what's the reason?

My reason for coming here is that I think everyone needs to laugh a few times per day. I usually try to answer in a humorous sort of way. That, and I like to occasionally bring down a few holier-than-thou fundies.

I watched the flag pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.

A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..

I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil
How many mothers' tears?

How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.
I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen,"

When a flag had draped a coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea

Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
No, freedom isn't free.

It is better to believe in Santa than to not believe in Santa.

Because if you believe in Santa, you will wake up with presents on Christmas morning!

If you dont believe in Santa, you will get a piece of coal as a present.

Would it be better to be safe than sorry? And if Santa isnt real, you have nothing to lose!

Thoughts? opinions? comments?

I'm super super depressed. Should I:
1. Force myself to study the next chapter in a course on World Religions - Christianity.
2. Force myself to read the next chapter in a book about Christian history.
3. Answer questions on here.
4. Go to bed and stare at the ceiling until I go nuts.
5. Shoot myself (not really)
6. Other. (give your suggestion)

She is a very Catholic person; as such, she raised me to be one as well, the whole going to church every sunday, etc. She recently asked me to go to church and I replied that I can no longer attend because of my beliefs. I felt as if I were trying to "come out of the closet"! I tried to explain my reasons to her, but that did not help.

How can I go about this and still maintain a calm home?
By the way I'm 17, the eldest of two and the only daughter of a Mexican stubborn, overly, protective, naiive mother; that makes the environment a whole lot more tense. If anyone can relate to that situation, they can understand how major the conflict is.

Spot bashing atheist and other groups. We are to love them. I understand your zeal, but look first to yourselves. Some of the greatest Christian converts I have known believed themselves to be Christian and realized that they only belonged to a church.

Just as when peter pulled a sword to protect the Christ , He was rebuked by Jesus for this action.

Most Atheist I have known were highly intellegent. As smart as they were would coment on a Bible that they had never read.

God speaks to our souls. not our heads. None may come to the Father less the Father call him and none may come to the Father but by the son.

Do you still feel a compulsion to fight them?
Love them.

I was wondering if you can be a deist but still hold some catholic beliefs. I believe obviously in every aspect of deism but i still am weary of renouncing my religion. I am sure that many people like me believe that the catholic church has made many mistakes in the past and will make many in the future. i disagree with their willingness to change and that has weighed in on my decision. I was just wondering if i could still hold some beliefs of my former religion while proclaiming myself a deist?

Does your religion foster ignorance, stifle the pursuit of knowledge, foster division, and discourage being pro-active..?

If not, then why are you so ignorant of conventional "mainstream" scientific principles and understandings, which unlike religion, are globally uniform, without borders, do not discriminate, have no hidden agenda, and allow understanding and so offer methods for pro-active responses..?

How can you tell if someone who says that Jesus Christ is Lord is not a false prophet?

For in the last days Jesus Christ said that there will be many false prophets who will say that Jesus Christ is the Lord and perform signs and miracles in His Name but we shouldn't be deceived by them for they are ravenous wolves dressed in sheep clothing.

Here are some things I thought up of how we could discern between a false prophet and a true prophet, though they might not all be correct or useful:
By the quality of their sermon?
By signs and miracles?
By how they treat their wife?
By the way they deal with finances?
By the number of "converted" people?
By the size of the gathering?
By how popular they are?

Or if your parants are christian/muslim/etc did you just automatically follow that religion without investigating any other?

Shouldn't religious instruction in school teach, at least the basic principals, of other religions?

Okay, after checking around and finding nothing, I rebooted and everything seems to be working fine.

I do a lot of graphics junk (videocam editing and animation) and the programs load a lot of drivers into ram without releasing them when I shut the programs down.

So it appears to be mere happenstance. The active-x on the site probably butted heads with something in my ram and and IE lost... ;-)

Anyway, my apologies to anyone for any inconvenience, and also an apology to whyaskdonnieandmarie for any impunation I may have implied.

I just figured better safe than sorry, and all that... ;-)

I know God dosn't breed me, but you know when he is done with your marrige, when you Go to heaven. He kinda like sexed you up for glory of the kingdom of God. Breeded you, then when he is done, he says you are like the angels. I have no further use for you. Kinda like the world is a factory for God's worship. I know when I go to heaven I will keep my wife because the Lord says so to me. But what about you guys? Is it God that breeds you or is does the devil have you blind and you breed for him. You know you can almost call your God a rapist. Cloraforms you here on earth. You die, you don't remember this world under the cloraform, you can amost say Jesus sexed you up to bring forth life. So God used you sexualy. Is your God a rapist breeder? who is working for Jesus in marrage, might as well call him father pimp. As he pimps you off to one another, to procreate. I am ofended by your christian ways with marrage. Jesus said to my sole, you won your wife in heaven. proverbs 31:23KJV.
