For me, I would gladly place my faith in another religion or in another God if someone could show me that their religion was TRUE.
Quite honestly, I have given Islam and Hinduism a chance -- but I simply would not feel confident placing my faith in the god of Islam or in any of Hindu's 320 million gods based on what I've read historically. (The last I had heard, Hinduism had 320 million gods -- which is why I used that number above).
Basically, I always encourage people to do some studying -- and then to place their faith in accordance with the facts that they find. (Simple enough, eh?)
Actually, my personal blog is devoted to this very subject. You can check it out here: http://www.James-Gilchrist.com
You've asked a good question here. I hope my answer was helpful to you in some way. :O)

I have looked into both religions with great interest. My problem with Islam is that i can disprove it. The quarn is supposed to be perfect with no errors in it and is perfect (god spoke the words of the quran) In the quarn it says that Mary and Jesus never sined and were perfect and it also says that mary says that she saw her son die on the cross but the quran lator says that jesus didnt die on the cross but was taken up into heaven. This dosent work. Either mary is not sinless (saying that the quaren is inacurate and therefore god lied impossible) or that jesus didnt assend into heaven which throws off the whole islamic revelation story which involves jesus comeing back to lead an army against the non belivers. Hinduism is just to weird and warped by time. Catholicism has had one leader to rule and clarify teachings therefor it is more unified then any religion. And it just makes the most sence to me.

No way , why give these a chance when we know that:......
Islam worships Allah the moon god and has a false prophet who took a 9 year old girl as a wife. Today we would call him a pedophile. Hindus worship more gods than Carter has liver pills. They also worship cows while lower caste people in India starve to death from lack of meat. Not much mercy in either religion Muslims and Hindus are both very intolerant of Christians . They have been known to kill us for our belief. In fact if you watch the right news source it is happening every day.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 4:16

I was born and raised catholic! I am very proud to be one and I will die one ! GOD is pure and GOD is truth! Religion is corrupt and is all but a cult of brain washed people! No different from the time before Christ ! High Priests taught man and brain washed man about a God to be fearful of and about a GOD who was far from what he really was ! We have not come much further today! Religion still paints a picture of God which is still untrue! Accept Christ, repent or burn in a lake of fire! No religion on earth has the right to criticize another and no religion is better than the other! Whether you are Christian, Muslim or Hindu, you are in favor with GOD! It's just a different way, that's all!

Perhaps because those that believe that are completely lost. I feel sorry for them. This is not about "picking a religion" or "picking what's right for you" God is the only real God, and Jesus is the only savior. Anyone with real faith would know that. Why don't you try praying to God, and give US a chance?
I don't like to call Christianity a 'religion' I call myself a believer in Christ, I trust in him with all my heart and I know I'm going to heaven.
I really encourage you to read the Bible, you might find things you didn't understand before.

Have I given Islam a chance? There is no way that I would trade in the truth (Jesus Christ and the Bible) for idolatry.

as in embrace it for myself? no. as in accept it as truth? definitely not. as in believing they're peaceful and just religions like all the others, sure.
I believe God is personal and I desire a friendship with God. Allah is distant from my perspective. And makes no guarantees, and is rather limited from my point of view. feel free to disagree
Hinduism, I'm pretty sure you have to be born into that, and I wasn't. and I believe in one God, not pantheism. I also don't believe that everyone can be right. truth has no value then.
