I'm asking everyone, not just one specific group. Do you come here cause you're bored? Do you come here to inspire people? Do you come here because you want to make people mad? So what's the reason?

My reason for coming here is that I think everyone needs to laugh a few times per day. I usually try to answer in a humorous sort of way. That, and I like to occasionally bring down a few holier-than-thou fundies.

originally, I came here to answer questions and to learn something from others.. I tried to promote tolerance and understanding.. once I learned that this isn't really welcome, I came back to hang out with my buddies, have some fun, and argue some good topics.

I come here because answering even the most obviously baited questions is a lot more fun than writing the 3 papers I have left to finish my coursework. Well, that and I get tired of fundies being the only Christian voice.

I am inspired by the poem Desiderata when jotting down thoughts on questions at Religion & Spirituality site...

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

I do not wish to offend you but would point out those who need a laugh can always go the Jokes section.

I am interested in understanding people and their beliefs. I found after I came here that there were a lot of intelligent people mixed in with some who need a little growth. The intelligent answers keep me returning. Also, there are a few who have an excellent sense of humor and timing. That is the icing.

Bored? A little.
Inspire? Not really, don't have the arrogance to think that.
Mad? No.

Reason...eh, to bite back at those who talk about non believers. And to get the chance in life to state my opinion in regard to beliefs...considering most non believers aren't going to be so open about it in real life. And beyond that, just to answer with a bit of humor sometimes, even if some lack the sense of humor to get it.

The most important reason is that I have friends here and I like reading everyone's opinions and having fun, since there are many great personalities here.

I also just think this is a very interesting subject and I like discussing it.

Personally, I like honest questions, and I like to help find the answers... not just in R&S, but Mathematics, or Languages, or whatever.

Admittedly, the bulk of the questions in R&S are anything but honest. But even some of the "dishonest" ones can be given an honest answer.

And then, every few questions, I find an honest question (like yours, I think), and then I can give it an honest answer. I enjoy that.

I come here to ruin the area, and bash people in retaliation against the fundies who come to the GLBT section. Forget dialog, sometimes the best defense is a good offense.

I come for many reasons.

Right now I'm here because I am so depressed I don't feel like doing anything else. I don't really feel like doing this either, but I gotta do something I guess.

I come here when I am bored.

I come here when I have a genuine question I want to ask.

I come here to share my knowledge.

I come here because I like the people here.

I come here for fun. I find it incredibly fascinating how people battle over something that may or may not exist. It's a great experiment in human behavior.
